It will be a sad, sad day if they every remove those monuments. Conversely, every day they stay up is a great victory for southern culture and heritage.

Disagree. It's called risk vs reward. I would rather risk engineering a lift and determine bolting etc in broad day light. Would not like to risk my crane getting torched at night with a rebel yell NOR my home.
