If you have 15 minutes this gives you a good idea of where we are and how far down in the hole we are

I love living here because I’m not paying taxes (not much) right now. However, if I go to Texas, I’ll get something in return from my tax money. Plus as an engineer I’ll get paid much better.

From my brief, unprofessional scan of twitter, black people are still definitely NOT going against LaTweeta

It might be anecdotal but I've had a couple of African American Uber drivers go on huge rants about hating her, and when news breaks (Hard Rock, taxes, Mardi Gras, cancelling Super Sunday, etc) I have seen all of Twitter go against her. A lot of the hate is that she is an outsider coming to NOLA and changing traditional things. She has pissed off the entire electorate, if anyone with half a pulse runs against her she is toast.

How is this legal?

It's not. And in fact, it's in direct violation of legislation passed at the state level as a result of the gun grab in New Orleans during Katrina.

The legislation explicitly states that emergency powers do not extend to the confiscation or regulation of firearms. But don't tell that dumb Californian that. Was she even here during Katrina?

ETA: apparently she was here during Katrina. That makes her even dumber.

If you want open defiance of the law, even by otherwise law-abiding citizens, this is how you get it. And that's a Pandora's Box you don't want to open if you're in government. Once people get a taste of the power of widespread disobedience, they'll want more and you'll lose the obedience of the last remaining decent citizens in the city. At that point, city ordinances might as well be written on a bar napkin.

Well, there you go.

A people who fail to recognize the brilliance of our country’s founding ideals of small government, and why it’s so important, are left with the big government they so desire.

Your freedoms and liberties are but a mere edict away from being confiscated, and regulated, and all under the guise of emergency measures for the good of all.

The majority elects these people, and so it’s the majority that are apparently IDIOTS of the highest order of IDIOCRACY.....
