Don't care. Still get Uber.

On a serious note, I honestly believe that Uber is the answer to whatever the city is trying to do to ramp up DWI's. If Uber makes it to BR, I'll probably never drive my car at night again. The city might not make DWI money off me, but they'll make extra tax revenue from me actually going out to bars and restaurants. It's a win-win. Anybody who stands in the way of this is a commie fricktard.

TWise your arguments are way off bro. We need to have a sit down over a Hurricane Saison so I can explain how this improves our city that no questions or arguments can come close to countering.

Sounds like a idea. I'm not against the idea, I'm just pointing out why it's not good idea at this time.

Agreed. Seeing all these people just looking out for their self-interest and not the actual consumers makes me want this here even more!

Plus IMO uber just makes it easier for corruption. Having one group over the cab industry is a lot easier to have people getting paid off than if you have a bunch of independents running around controlling the industry.

whoa

what?

I'm sure those places probably put insane regulations on the company to protect the cab industry (just like we're about to do).

You do know there are about 11 different cab companies in NOLA right. That's not counting the limo services.

If uber comes in and becomes the only show in town it would be a lot easier for one company to pay off polticians than 11 different.

sooooo, their "smoking gun" is to have them admit that they have had discussions about possibly expanding in the future?

and they keep out competition from having even more via government. it's corruption at its most local level

if uber comes in, i doubt it will be the only show in town. that's what happens when you remove restrictive government regulations that allow "one show" (aka, the cab unions) to rule

Have you had conversations with your superiors about whether or not the city of NOLA has the power to stop UberX?

His follow-up question was directed based on some "Once we get to a critical mass, we cannot be stopped"

What the frick kind of question is this?

We have 11 different cab companies now, plus the limo services. Competition isn't the problem it's regulation.
