Looking to grab some for a Christmas gift. Any recommendations? So far, I'm basing the purchase off this list LINK.

I have the Bose QC 35 II set and love them. Sounds like the first one on the list is the best by their review. I imagine they are good.

Sorry I'll tell your mom to keep it down from now on.

I second this, especially for the long flights.
For the short flights, I got a pair of the new AirPods and they are way better than I thought - even the noise cancelling works well.

If the Sony's truly have a 30 hour life, then I'd highly consider those if sound quality is that good. I typically don't have to worry about the battery on Bose, but 30 hours is a long time. Either way, I've gone 10 hours straight without worrying on my Bose headphones which should suffice for the majority of people.

I own the Sony's. I have no idea how long the battery lasts, i just know it lasts awhile.
They're great headphones, they kind of make my ears hot after long uses though. All in all though a solid 9/10.

I wanted some but it’s not worth it to me to pay over $100. I went with the Cowin E7 and have no complaints.

Bose QC 35 or Sony WX1000m3 will be the recommendation of 95% of folks. Bose probably a little more on the "industry standard" side and feature oriented, while Sony probably a little better performance for audio, particularly music.
Noise cancelling for both get rave reviews. Ditto for comfort. Battery life is something they battle back and forth, but both are insanely long (the original market were passengers on long flights).
If the recipient already leans towards Sony for headphones, that's probably the right call (I have the m2 version, myself). Otherwise, Bose is probably the way to go.

Can't wait for some person to end up with a cracked skull and missing wallet because they didn't hear the robber coming up from behind.
Not calling for death, or serious bodily harm...just enough of a lesson that maybe they should not completely tune themselves out to the rest of the world.

Agreed. Those muggings during cross country flights have gotten out of control. I was horrified the other day when a coach rider came up to first class and smashed a businessman over the head.

If you are looking for something good but cheaper, check out Audio Technica.
I use these: Audio-Technica ATH-ANC500BTNV QuietPoint Wireless Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones

I have the Sony wh900 or something.
It's a step down from the mx1000 but the noise cancelling is great (no "ear suck") and the sound, battery life etc is really good too.
Costco has them for like 130 bucks.

If you could test these all out somewhere like Best Buy just to get a feel, that would be nice. I haven't been to best buy in years, though

I didn't want to spend $300 on a pair so I went with the Cowin E9 set. I charged them the first time and have used them for about 8 hours on flights since then and have not needed a charge. The ANC works well on the plane too. On my last flight we were into the takeoff roll before I realized it.

I've had the Sony WH-1000XM2 for about 2 years now and love them. I'd say they are worth the high price considering the very impressive battery life and noise cancelling.
My only complaint with it is the bluetooth pairing is a bit clunky and seems to require occasional repairing. I've read that this was improved on the xm3.

Yeah the bluetooth on my xm3's works fine. However, you can only have one device paired at a time. That is annoying whenever my wife borrows them. or if i want to connect them to the TV instead of my phone. It's a first world problem, but it is a hassle.

I have the Sony WH-1000XM3 and it is superb. Well worth the money. Seems like it holds a charge for forever, and the sound quality is pretty good when you want to listen to music. I might get another pair honestly.

Hardy, har-har.
Obviously, I was referencing the morons that walk the streets with the damned things on.

Frequent work traveler. Used to think Bose was they best (they were) but the new ones are not built well. They maybe last a year or so before breaking apart.
I strongly recommend the Sony WH-1000XM3. Excellent choice.
