The Wine & Food Experience posted on FB today the annual event held this month will be postponed:
Naturally, people started asking about refunds. Tickets are not cheap, to say the least. Tickets start at $125 for the grand experience and go up to several hundred dollars per ticket for tastings, wine dinners and pairings, and other events.
Well, someone asked about refunds. The Experience replied:
Not exactly how one practices damage control. Pricks.

Out of an abundance of caution and concern for all of our guests, vintners, chefs and sponsors, both traveling from outside of Louisiana and those who reside here, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, originally scheduled to start March 18. We recognize that our stakeholders may be feeling constrained by the COVID-19 outbreak, and we hope this decision lifts some burden on resources and uncertainty. We will assess our options for rescheduling the event at a later date in 2020, and look forward to sharing that information as it becomes available. Purchased tickets will be honored for our new dates. In the meantime, we urge our local audience to support our restaurants, hotels and vendors affected by this situation, while following guidelines and protocols set forth by public health officials.

We appreciate that this is a difficult situation. We advise that you reach out to your airline and hotel accommodations in order to inquire about a refund. NOWFE tickets will still be honored for our adjusted dates. Please check back for our revised schedule of events and additional updates. Below is an article that lists all major airlines updated changes and cancellation policies.

We apologize for the inconvenience this postponement has caused. Your safety is our number one priority. We will not be offering refunds for our postponed March 2020 events. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at one of our 2020 or 2021 future event dates. If travel is a concern, please contact your airline for change and cancellation policies.

I'm sure they paid their vendors already. How are they supposed to get the money back, to pay refunds?

Vendors supply free samples, which are included in a winery’s annual budget. Most of the people pouring wine and liquor at those things are local sales reps that volunteer their time.

South by Southwest did the same thing. What was the cancellation policy when people purchased the ticket?
