What's offensive is the amount of soldiers who've died since the 60s in political wars.

I agree 100% seeing a few brothers die on the field. May God and country bless their and their family's.

At the height of the flag burning controversy in the late 80s, the West Baton Rouge police jury voted unanimously for a resolution to send to Congress to ban burning.

The next day the Advocate ran the story with a picture of the flag over the courthouse where they held the vote. It was hanging by one grommet and in tatters.

Agreed. I did two tours in Anbar with USMC and have picked up friends and put them in bags. It means something to me. However, I am not an advocate of compulsory reverence. It means nothing if to force someone to stand, etc.

That being said, I have never met anyone who disrespected the colors who wasn't an abject failure at life in general and a miserable human being.

So edgy. You keep on sticking it to the man, man. Keep speaking truth to power.

This may not be a popular opinion but I’ve never really understood such reverence for a piece of cloth. As a former enlisted, I can appreciate the idea, but I’ve always put more stock in the principles behind that flag and not the flag itself. Some actually display more reverence for that piece of cloth than the creator who endowed them with the inalienable rights for which it stands.

I kinda want to disrespect the flag cause of this thread. Freedom of speech makes this country amazing.

The people that take disrespecting the flag as an offense against the military are dumb, it represents all of us. Some of us earned a little disrespect.
