Correct. The old dickhead initially never threatened to physically hurt anyone. He just threatened to take them all to court.

Young dickhead went inside and escalated entire situation by bringing a deadly weapon into the equation.

The police should have been called initially and let them sort things out. Getting the gun was totally unnecessary due to lack of physical threats. Young dickhead overreacted.

As this stands now, old dickhead is dead, kids no longer have paternal father, and this is absolutely great fodder for the anti 2A crowd.

I am a huge 2A guy. But the shooter is at blame here. a guy arguing with his ex over custody doesn't deserve death. Kyle wasn't threatened until he came out with a gun threatening.

Yep. This. I am all for 2A all the way. But, this is a strange hill to die on. Two people arguing over custody and he goes and gets a gun?

Wait, the dude went inside, got a gun, came outside, and fired the gun in the general direction of the guy who was shot, but at no point should he have felt threatened that he may be shot?

This. He even shot it at his feet.

I hope they put that little cocksucker in jail for a long time.

He should go to jail. He escalated the situation by going in the house to get the gun. By the letter of the law, he should go to jail.

And.... he fired a warning shot like a fricking retard.

Almost every one of these situations could be avoided if stupid people didn't have guns. There should be an IQ/Emotional maturity test required to own a firearm.

Most of you dumbfricks would fail it so I'm sure the downvotes will rain down.

This is it.

I've had people in my neighborhood answer the door holding a shotgun when the pest control guy came by, then brag about it. Everybody thinks they need to protect themselves and defend themselves when really they just want to be billy-badass and have the emotional maturity of a 7 year old.

He was there to pick up his kid, who was apparently supposed to be with him 3 hours before but the shooter and Mother didn't turn over the kid.

Then you call the cops and your lawyer, you don’t rage around the front yard wrestling with a dude with a firearm.

And there are a whole lotta posters who thought that the shooter would be charged by now.

And - it's still a very interesting case.

And there may not be any. Deal with it.

The way I dealt with the situation is this - when the first thread was posted months ago, I didn't jump to any conclusions WRT how the case would turn out.
