Hold them accountable. I started mowing at 9, had a few issues but I damn sure didn't get out of doing it.

I put my teens on weed plucking, a 20 ft ladder trimming trees with a chain saw, throwing pine straw and cleaning the pool, weed eating around the pond, pressure washing.

I’ve got to say that as a father, it’s a very satisfying feeling to walk outside just before sundown, looked over your lawn and see your son has done a good job mowing it earlier that day.

This. I know several families with 2 or more kids and they don't do jack around the house. We had to have the house clean in the summer before momma got home or we got in trouble. I just don't get it.

Once you learn how to operate them, they are pretty easy.

Usually how my dad felt and if I missed a spot or two, he pointed it out very quick.
Never had a riding mower until after I left for college. Guess he got so used to me doing it.

There are some that may have to have it done but I can't imagine paying someone either.
And if someone has a big yard, they have enough money to get a good Zero Turn.
