I’m able-bodied, and I’ve been paying for lawn service ever since my last kid graduated high school. I would have done it years before, but I wanted my three daughters and my son to have that chore. I can’t imagine why you think it’s a waste. The time I would have spent cutting grass I now spend doing things I want to.

I was my dad and grandfather's lawn service for about the same amount of time. Our yard when I was middle school and up was about an acre. Grandparent's was 18 acres of fields. They paid me though.
I probably cut more grass in my life before 18 than many will in their lifetime. I still go cut my grandparent's fields occasionally. Just a portion of it though.

i remember my dad turned over the push mower to me at around age 10, did it till my younger brother reached around the age of seven and i used the old Tom Sawyer painting the fence trick on him, by the time he figured out it was`t fun it was his job.

At one point I was mowing my parent's, my grandparent's place out in the country, and my great grandfather's place that took about 6 hours. Fortunately all with garden tractors. Only pay was grandmother made great brownies.
Grandfather had one of these. Have never seen another.
I hate yardwork to this day.

I still remember being 5 years old and pestering my Dad to help mow the yard. He told me I wouldn't want to when I was actually old enough.

Hey Nimrod, perhaps dad is too busy earning a living M-F to pay the bills and give these "kids" a lifestyle better than his when he was coming up.
Kids should have chores to do as they are coming up, unless you want to raise a bunch of selfish little shits that think everything should be done by mom, dad, and "the guy".
