quote:

"The reason I am opposed is because it was not a community driven process based on the concerns of citizens," she said in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon. "This idea was thrust upon the City and the Council from the top down after it was created by a small, select group of individuals."

"There was no movement rising up to demand this action. There was no willingness to take into account people's outrage about other symbols of racism not included in this ordinance. There was no discussion on whether one or two of the selected monuments might be more offensive than others."

Wow, a logical thought out position. She'll be labelled a corn ball sister before long.

Someone from the NOLA City Council acting and speaking intelligently?

These are truly the end times, people.

This white man might give that black woman a campaign donation. Y'all should promote her for Mayor based on that one statement alone.

Wow, she's the last City Council member I would have expected that statement from.

Don't particularly know her policies but when I've needed action in neighborhood issues she has been responsive and helpful in achieving solutions.

while I agree with the end goal, her statement seems to me that the only reason she opposes it is because black people didnt get to pick or werent involved in picking what to remove.

She sucks. She pushed the smoking ban and now wants to tax plastic grocery bags. Of course snap card users will be exempt from the grocery bag tax.
