As you can tell from the design, Nissan stopped giving a shite about the Titan a very long time ago.

The government killed the compact pickup? I just figured Americans got too fat and jaded to drive a small truck.

It was the crash test ratings and safety requirements. It’s why Nissan went from the old compact truck to the frontier.

And that is only if you consider Texas as the southern US

good point, most consider it to be "north" or "pacific north", which makes sense if you look at a fricking map.

Tundra has more US made components than Silverados.

there will be a reckoning. dealer lots are already filling up with non sold EVs. until EV's greatly increase their range and lower their cost people will buy gas powered vehicles or keep their present models. the market for EV's gets smaller now that the truth about their range, charging difficulties, etc are coming out

I think Nissan gave up caring about design in all their cars decades go. Interior triply.

I have never seen one I would consider

My Dad had an 85 Nissan King Cab. Got great mileage and was tough as nails. Like all the little trucks of that era, it would not meet today's safety standards, but they were good little trucks.

Where the F is all of this supposed demand for electric vehicles?
The demand is coming from the government, not the consumer.

Just wait until all the EV's sold in the past few years start needing their batteries replaced and the average consumer realizes that the lifespan of an EV battery is a lot shorter than the lifespan of an average combustion engine and the EV battery costs a whole lot more to replace.

I'm surprised it wasn't more popular in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. Nissan employed a lot of people in the south to build those Titans.

Good ole boy redneck mentality of Ford or Chevy or gtfo

My dad has a 2005ish frontier he uses as his beater truck. Simple V6 engine. 200k miles with nothing but routine maintenance.

I gave my 1st gen Titan to my son when he went off to college. He's getting rid of it, but it has been a freakin tank and probably the most solid truck I've ever owned. Friend of mine has had 2 1st gens and 2 2nd gens and he beats the crap out of everything he owns and never had an issue with any of them that wasn't self imposed.

The new Frontiers are awesome, especially with that naturally aspirated v6. It’ll have a hard time competing with the upcoming Tacoma, but that Frontier is a great option for those that want a simpler & proven engine.

I think the GM plant in Arlington Texas was opened in the 1980s.

Also if you aren't exclusive to full sized trucks; the Chevrolet Colorado and Hummer H3 were made in Shreveport. Also opened in the 1980s to originally make the S-10 pickup.

I'm sitting at 185k on my gen1. It's in pretty rough shape now but still keeps ticking and doing the job it was designed for.

There is little demand. The plan is to force it by slowly eliminating all gas models replacing them with EVs until we have no choice. Gas models will become more and more expensive in the meantime to offset losses

Good informative video.

Cafe standards have definitely played a role.

But I think consumer trends are the bigger issue in my opinion.

Everybody hems and haws about the greatness of these old beater small trucks, mostly nostlagia, as 90% of these same people would never drive one now. Just my opinion, I have nothing factual to back up that claim.
