I have finally caught Covid after avoiding for the last 5 years. I have had symptoms for about a day and so far it is just about like a bad-assed cold. There’s one exception…night sweats. I woke up a couple of times last night sweating to the point that the sheets were wet enough to where I had to change sides of the bed.

Is this common?

I’ve had Covid 3 times and it’s been less severe each time.

First one was the OG Covid and it kicked my arse. Basically stayed in bed for a week. High fever. Worst body aches I’ve ever had. Coughing so bad I thought I was going to break a rib. Like the flu but worse.

Second time was two summers ago. Pretty much just a bad cold. For about 3 days.

Third was a couple weeks ago. Barely knew I had it. Ran a low fever for one night and was real tired for a couple days. Only reason I knew it was Covid was because my wife nagged at me to take an at home test we had.

One time I had it and night sweats were the only symptom. Only took a test because others in my family had it.

The range of reactions to COVID has been bizarre. I ran a fever of up to 101 and had severe chills (this was in the middle of the summer 2022 while at the beach). The only way I finally got warm was sitting in the bathtub filled with hot water (and refilling it when it cooled) for about an hour. It also sapped my appetite to the point where I ate the equivalent of one meal over the course of an entire week.

Just had it for the first time in almost three years, and yes, I had one bad night of night sweats. Overall, Hasn’t been bad at all though. I’d call mine a mild cold. Definitely not “flu like” as the ones that I know that have had the flu were miserable.

On a more serious note, the answer is yes. First time I had COVID had pretty bad fever/night sweats.

Sweating off a fever is totally underrated.

Got Covid last year. Was sitting on the couch mid morning and just broke into a sweat. Was so bad I had to change clothes and take a shower.

I believe it’s also fairly common for your heart rate in increase a bit as your body fights off a virus or bacterial infection. That can also make you a little sweaty.
