You think it’s just Muslim culture to marry cousins? It was completely part of British culture as well
BBC
50+% of Pakistanis are married to their first cousins

They really are changing their culture to further “normalize” Muslim culture
That is exactly what it is.

Who knew England and Alabama had so much in common?

About 10 years ago, Gavin McInnes went on JRE and talked about Pakistani inbreeding and how common it is. Jamie got his panties in a bunch and looked it up knowing he was going to prove him wrong. Turns out it was completely true. Of course, that episode was scrubbed when JRE went to Spotify.

To be fair, European royalty have been marrying cousins for centuries.

I will never understand this board's fascination with immediately naming Alabama everytime cousin marriage is brought up
Like a lot of jokes, it’s not something this board came up with. It’s an old internet joke. Lots of non-football people strictly associate “Roll Tide” with incest and have no clue about Bama football. Not sure why Alabama got to be the main target exactly, but plenty of southern rural areas used to have rates of cousin marriages though it’s rare these days.
However, it’s not rare for Muslims. Even for ones not living in rural areas as in England’s case. The only explanation I’ve heard is they want someone they know well. “Someone” being the family. Maybe at some point the jokes will switch to Pakistanis with their crazy high incest rate but I doubt it because it would be deemed “racist”.

I’m not advocating for cousin marriage but I thought the increased risk for offspring of cousins wasn’t really much higher than normal marriages.
First cousin is also very high. There is a shared set of grandparents there. That's half the shared grandparents that siblings have.
It's like anything else - it can be a benefit, genetically, if all the genes are good. But, since they rarely are, you have a vastly increased chance of getting negative genetic traits "doubled up" so to speak and having problems that could have been avoided with a greater genetic diversity (i.e. different grandparents/great-grandparents which siblings and first cousins just have too many in common for genetic safety).
Like I said earlier, the closest one should consider is second cousin, once removed. That steps the risk down to a manageable level.
