This sounds like some fruity junior LSU essay written by some smelly chick in the quad about the grandeurs of Nola.

Nola has always been a piece of shite city with terrible traffic, overpriced cost of living, overrated food compared to the triparish area, and snobby gentrified white folk who pretend the rest of the state doesn't exist.

shite I'd rather spend an afternoon in BR over Nola.

He can go to a nursing home in Houston with all the other transplants and get hit equally by a hurricane there.

the population of Orleans Parish is in a tailspin and it is now reflected even in the housing prices which are declining significantly there

Second time asking - do you have any proof backing this claim up?

Theirs did too, just a lot sooner.

Neither they nor I know any family members who did the immigrating so what's the difference?

My Nawlins Country Day cousins bailed 45 yrs ago. And still love NO, family, friends, food, festivals, LSU, etc..

But, life in Palm Desert, Greenwood Village, Sun Valley, Woodlands, etc..there’s no looking back to this decaying dying state. They’re all living their swanky best lives.

I can only imagine how sad they feel for those of us still stuck here. They very rarely come back to NO or BR. All of us from here much prefer travel to visit them there.

Move there then. It’s clearly not difficult

I’ve always told people..The Six Fs.. Family, Friends, Football(LSU & Saints), Food, Fishing(Gulf), Festivals..

The sad truth is..it’s not enough of a reason. Those days all added up for any of us, are but a small fraction of 365 days each year.

Wonderful.. he will likely move here and promptly vote for BETO.

How do these people NOT see that their own policies are what makes their cities shitholes? We should wall them all in.

The problem is that they flee and bring their voting patterns with them. Liberalism is a mental disorder destroying this country.

How does that compare nationally? Houses around me are still selling quick. Prices seem a little lower compared to last year but not by much.

The amount of people moving out of Orleans Parish is simply stunning right now. Honestly it’s shocking. The property tax hike is the death knell.

Where are they going? Arabi?

This is why I never understand why people want places like San Fran, New Orleans, Austin, etc to fail.

People on here daily say New Orleans should rot or burn and celebrate when something bad happens. But where do you think residents are going to go if shite truly did hit the fan.

First of all, do you honestly not believe that black people strongly influence the culture of Nola? Second, there’s always been gays and liberals in Nola. Some of y’all are drama queens it’s not that serious.

But that’s all that will be left in Nola.

And if we’re being honest, the black culture in Nola is interchangeable with the black culture in any other city. And the white gay/liberal crowd is similarly interchangeable. Except on a conscious superficial level. Where transplants make sure to say “making groceries” etc.

The City Business article doesn’t pinpoint a specific reason for population loss as you are trying to do. Nor does it make a comparison to national averages…is it a New Orleans problem or is it people are moving from urban areas to suburban areas post-Covid in general? That article also states numbers for the metro area - which includes Metairie/JP, not just New Orleans.
quote:

While it is unclear how much of the population loss can be attributed to post-Hurricane Ida out-migration, or related issues such as home insurance affordability,

Fox 8 article is all about Northshore population increase but states more people moved from Jefferson Parish to the Northshore than from Orleans.
quote:

In 2020 more people moved from Jefferson Parish than Orleans Parish to the North Shore.

The Nola.com article also talks about the New Orleans metro area. It doesn’t discern between Jefferson, Orleans, or St Bernard parish. It also cites cost of building and insurance as main factors - didn’t see anything supporting the picture you’re trying to paint.
