Just saw the video. That was a shark. I’ve seen plenty of them from the bridge of a boat.

Harbors have big sharks. Always something going to the water to attract them. I’d bet anything that was a Whitetip. They congregate in the Bahama’s close to shore during the spring. Normally an open water shark. Think USS Indianapolis.

Jacques Cousteau said it was the worst of them all. His son and a fellow diver encountered some in the Red Sea that would not let them get away for a long time.

It's on Reddit. Easy to find using the most likely search terms.

It's not very clear but there's certainly some sort of movement close to the boat between the kid and life preserver. He immediately turned around and started swimming the other way.

Also didn't look like the boat was moving fast or at all, contrary to other reports.

Just read that the Coast Guard called off the search. Another case of a dumbass who lost his life all because he wanted to feed his insecurities and get views on Instagram or Snapchat filming a stunt. I truly believe that if social media vanished then society would be a much better place to live in.

If you download the video and brighten it then two fish can be seen. If they’re sharks then they’re very small sharks. Also I think he sees the life ring but didn’t want to swim out further from the boat to get to it. Definitely looking for an immediate way up.

Finally saw the video. That definitely looks like it could be a shark at the 2-3 sec mark.

Read a comment on reddit that sharks routinely follow in the wake of large boats.

That link works in the previous page…pretty shitty that someone made an Instagram just for the video, but I guess that’s the world we live in.

From the people you hear on the video, it seems clear that they know what he did was horribly stupid and that he was all but gone.

You can definitely see him swim away from a shark and then the distance between he and the buoy just becomes too much.

Tough to watch.
