A court has ruled that the building is illegal, and the €57 million ($64 million) Chateau Diter will now have to be knocked down.
quote:
"Patrick Diter was accused of having executed important works on a land without authorization," said Gaury.
quote:
"Mr. Diter transformed a home that was important because it was on a protected site, and subject to legal regulations."
quote:
Gaury emphasized that Diter bought the land legally and issues only arose because of what he did with it.

According to a ruling on Monday, an extra €500 ($565) will be added to the fine for every day beyond the deadline that the chateau remains standing
Something tells me this won't be much of an issue.

Government sucks, but how do you build a $64MM home without getting the proper permits?

Put 10 million in an account earning 2% interest and pay the fine. Cheaper than rebuilding

That is one awesome pussy palace

If he refuses, it says he'll be charged $565 a day. That's $200k/yr. I don't think he'll be tearing that thing down anytime soon.

Easier to ask forgiveness than permission mentality.
He will probably fight it in court and win.

Only one way to save this house

It's no wonder people wanted to leave France for the promised land.

Here in America this problem can be solved for the cost of hookers and blow for selected building permit officials prolly < 5k euros
