Shitty weather too.
New York weather is way more shitty. Like I said in my last post, NY deals with subfreezing temps for four consecutive months, while Central, South and East Texas has an average high of 75 and low of 55 from December-March. No contest.

After 5 of the shittiest months of my life working in Humble, Tx and living in Spring, TX ( both Houston suburbs), I agree with this message. frick Texas.
While I was there, the big beer festival that everyone talked about, Riff Raff was the headliner. This a-hole was who they paid to headline...

So you admit that you don't know, acknowledge that you shouldn't comment, and then you do anyway?
My company has a "field operations center" in Utica, which isn't even that far upstate, and I make trips there occasionally. Yes, they're every bit as redneck there as rural Texas. All they talk about is riding modded snow machines and hunting. They wear camo all the time. They're also extremely racist, because they live around nothing but other white people and can get away with it. This is a white collar office btw - not guys turning wrenches. Have you never seen that show North Woods Law? That's Maine, but it's pretty much like that in New York State in most places that aren't New York City.
Only NYC and it's surrounding burbs are like NYC. The rest of the STATE is full of hicks, which is why it is disingenuous of him to compare just NYC to all of Texas.

Upstate ny is worlds better than NYC. Wouldn't change anything from my childhood growing up there in Tioga county

I commented on this earlier. I found the video to be pretty funny.
However, Lewis Black is comparing New York City to the entire state of Texas. I'll concede that New York City is a great place. It's the "Capital of the World"...it's the epicenter of it all. I love visiting and try to make it up there every year or so. I wouldn't want to live there permanently, but it's a great visit.
Strictly as an urban destination, NYC is better than Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso.
That said, to boil it all down, I think the state of Texas is a hell of a lot better than the state of New York.

Syracuse/Rochester is full of lazy rednecks.

I've been to a lot of places in my life, both domestic and international, upstate NY included. And the one thing I can say with absolute certainty is that rural is rural. There isn't much difference between rural Texas and rural NY or Pennsylvania or Virginia or Louisiana or Georgia.
ETA: My dad lived in CT when I was growing up, and a house down the street had a fricking llama living in the yard.

It is nearly impossible to decide who is more arrogant, a Texan or a New Yorker.
Their devotion borders on religious fervor.

I like them. Just pointing out that, aside from accents, they're indistinguishable from rural folk who live in my parents or in-laws small towns in Texas.

Probably a Texan. It doesn't matter whether you are from Highland Park Dallas or bumfrick Abilene, you're proud to be a Texan.
I don't see too much "Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, etc" pride. The New York pride doesn't get too far out of the city. Even certain parts of New York City (Queens, Staten Island) are loathed.

Here's the point for all you idiots whining that the video compares and contrasts a state versus a city: it's exposing the arrogant assholes that live in each one and never shut up about either. *it's not actually about Texas or NYC, it's about annoying people*
For someone who has lived most of their life much closer to Texas than NYC, I approve of this video that knocks down Texicans a few pegs

"It's pretty ignorant."
Sheesh! Lighten up. It's just a joke.
BTW, what kind of shmucks give Lewis Black downvotes?

I've been to both, and New York City is definitely better than Texas City.

Living here in Texas I hear the locals compare themselves to California all of the time.
When I lived in California I never heard any comparison to Texas.
