Why would you want to live in Chicago?
I like visiting all three places, have lived in ORD and NYC. Whichever you pick(OP,) you're not stranded there. You can still travel.

Keyword.
Living in ORD is terrible. Crime is a major issue right now all over the city. Taxes are extremely high. Living expenses are lower than NYC and slightly lower than LAX. I've lived in an apartment for too long and need to get some space. Hopefully moving back to Atlanta soon.

My company is based in LA and I've gotten to know the city very well
I like it a lot but it gets old quick. There is a lot to do but damn it takes two hours to get there
Tons of douchebags there too
For me getting a chance to live in NYC would be great. Not to raise a family but just to spend 3-5 years and work and explore. My good friend spent from age 26-33 in nyc and had a place on upper east side. Said he would go back in a minute and it was the best years of his life.
So much energy and I love the holidays in nyc.
Both are in close proximity to tons so that's a wash

Lakeview. I'm about 5 blocks west of Wrigley Field.

visiting is definitely the operative word, I love to go to Chicago to eat, drink, and play, my daughter went to DePaul and lived fairly close to where you are when she was there, I lived in One East Schiller for about a year, then in the burbs for another, had a good time

Don't get me wrong, I had my fun time when I first moved here and loved the city. But like everyone, i've grown up, got married and have a kid on the way. Chicago is fun for a 22-30 y/o or people that can afford their own single family home ($1m+).

LA, nicer city, nicer weather

between the two, I'd choose LA for weather, and because NYC is just "too much". I prefer sun and at least SOME green space.
Though, I do prefer chicago to both of them. I love that the city is all within reach, housing relatively affordable...you can actually own a condo in a popular neighborhood in the city, tons of character with all the neighborhoods, world class architecture, dining, museums, and theater, amazing beach right outside downtown (best summer city in America, no contest), fun sports teams (except the bears...screw em). And the people are friendly because they're midwesterners. Folks in LA are too into the scene and who you know. Lot's of fake people. And in NY you have that god awful east coast accent and attitude, and everyone there thinks NYC is the center of the universe.
Of course taxes are an issue in chicago, and the weather is not ideal. But hell, I moved here from wisconsin, so I was moving south when I came.

I was actually editing my post to add in the part about New yorkers thinking NYC is the center of the universe when you posted this. So, as evidenced by your post...

Technically it is though.
Also, in NYC the cash flow situation would force me to generate higher income than the 175k.
If I am comfortable in LA at that, then I won't be as hungry to make it grow.
I'd rather have desires, and have to work to get them, than the to be juts comfortable enough to be good.

I've heard Portland is nice, but is tiny compared to the other three in your list, so not a fair comparison.
I've never been but I heard it's a little weird/creepy with all the homeless out there. I hear they have literal homeless tent cities.

So if i'm reading this right, your position is that you'd prefer to not be able to live comfortably because that would drive you to work harder so you could live comfortably?
