I’d rather live in NOLA than New York (for family, culture and cost of living reasons), but NOLA is one of the only cities in America that has a unique smell. And it ain’t a good one.

Its a huge population living on top of each other. That is the probably the most significant factor right now and why it has spread so badly down there.

While not perfect, it is one of the great American cities.
