I’m genuinely curious, what about true crime podcasts and shows fascinates people so much?

It’s entertainment.

Think about it. Before tv, detective radio shows were popular. Detective and mystery tv series and movies are always popular. Mystery books have always been popular. There’s mystery dinner theaters. A board game, Clue.

To Live & Die in LA is incredible. Both seasons. Not southern, but if you liked those two, it’ll be right up your alley.

Up & Vanished season 1 is also incredible.

S-Town - which was done from Bibb County, AL is one of my favorites as well, and may be the most well produced of the bunch.

I’m assuming you’ve listened to the original season 1 of Bardstown. If not, that’s a must.

Some others I’ve thoroughly enjoyed:

Root of Evil
The Girl in the Picture
In Your Own Backyard
Dr. Death season 1
Dirty John
The Shrink Next Door
In the Dark
Culpable
Firebug
Tom Brown’s Body
The Devil Within - this one was very unsettling, but well done.

So incredible. I followed whatever I could find on that for years and they really cracked that one open.

New Orleans Unsolved was really interesting but dark. Deals with a pedophile cop.

Not southern but I’d say Cold and Bear Brook are two of the most interesting I’ve ever listened to. True Crime bullshite is also wild, and has some slight ties to the LA area.

Anyone got any more? Doesn't have to be LA related. I've listened to most of these and need more for the commute.

Culpable. First season is based in Meridian, MS.

New Orleans Unsolved is a podcast done by Thanh Truong from WWL-TV.

A newer one is Undetermined; it's about a somewhat recent murder in Lakeview.

Culpable Season 1

Season 1 tells the story of the suspicious death of Christian Andreacchio of Meridian, MS, the controversial death investigation that was ruled a suicide and Christian’s mother’s uphill battle to get the case re-opened and investigated as a homicide.
