I just want something big and safe for the family. Id buy a semi truck if it could fit 2 car seats.

I may go with an excursion. I want a v8 and all the new fords only have a v6

Plenty of full size loaded SUVs (Suburban LTZ, Navigator, Expedition Platinum, etc all under 70k miles) under $30k. I literally just went through the shopping process.

Definitely would come under budget on an Excursion
Will give it all right back with <10mpg though, and the V8 ones are just not fun at all to drive.

In 2017, I got a 2016 Silverado 1500 LT Double Cab with a 5.3L for $25,500 before TT&L through a dealership. It was a fleet trade-in that had a maintenance contract, so it was in great condition. Only had 38K miles on it.
Definitely recommend checking with local fleet departments, as they have well maintained used vehicles coming in regularly.

If you're considering a SUV then you don't NEED the payload of an F250 for those materials. Get a used F150.

Maintenance cost on a F250(6.7)? Oil changes(every 5,000 miles) run about $70 if you do it yourself, about $120ish getting someone to do it. Fuel filters(every 10,000 miles) are around $60 if you do them yourself, expect a shop doing oil/oil filter/fuel filters at the same time to be $200+. DEF isn't really that bad, you may need to fill it 2-3 times a year at probably around $20-$30 per fill up. Also consider that cost of diesel is about $0.25/gallon higher and you'll likely see similar mileage vs a 1/2 ton truck in the 14-18mpg range.

If you will be hauling flooring go with a pick up. I currently have a Tahoe, and I can't wait to get back into a pick up.

6.7 oil change is every 7,500 miles or when instrument cluster says, fuel filters are every 15,000 or every 3rd oil change. Prices are correct, unless you go full synthetic. DEF is just about every oil change, unless you tow heavy. Fuel filter should be drained (water separator) every other month, do not wait for the WIF alert. It is to late at that point.
Unless you really want or need the diesel, go with the gas, they will be cheaper used but harder to find in higher trim levels. Less to go wrong and cheaper to fix if it does.
I also agree that for 30 you will be looking at high mileage or base models. If you go 150 you could get a better deal in higher trim.
Another thought is Ford is doing 0% on everything new now, nothing beats playing with the house’s money.
