I think Supra is going to turn out to be this years flop. Toyota has been striking out in the performance market as of late.

Striking out? They haven't been trying for nearly two decades (Unless we are discussing Lexus F series). This supra was supposed to be their reintroduction to that market. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

Speaking of the NSX, I saw one in BR a few weeks ago. Beautiful car.

It really is a beautiful car in certain colors.

I would put thise under the umbrella of Toyota since they seemed to have moved their performance wing (minus TRD) there a decade or so ago.

They haven't made crap cars, just nothing interesting.

The first one of these available was auctioned at Barrett Jackson for 2.1 million. Saw it as it was rolling on to the block.

If they just threw the fricking LS TTV6 in the car, people would not be shitting on this car.

But it deserves to get shite on.

But from the sound of things. It seems like we are about to see more Toyota performance cars under the GR label. That could be all smoke and mirrors. But only time will tell.

They will be fun to watch.

I also believe a higher performance version will eventually on the way. The NA Supras weren't exactly what Supras are remembered for anyway.

My folks' nextdoor neighbor has one (red). That thing is unreal.

For the $204,000 he dropped on it, it has to be.

I don't understand this

they put a twin turbo 3L inline 6 in this thing and only get 335HP

Nissan puts a twin turbo 3.8L V6 in the GTR and they get 565HP

Seems like toyota is purposely holding this thing back????

Can’t have a toyota badge making more horsepower than their F cars.

The only reason people loved the old one was because they were easy to work on, and you could tune the frick out of them

I guess time will tell with these, but it’s hard to see people messing with them too much considering the price tag

I think torque is the number you’re looking for here champ

Anyway, assuming your premise is true, almost every stock vehicle on the road would blow a trans with 1000 horsepower

This is a tough sell. Old school fans of the MKIV twin turbo aren’t going to go for this.

So who are they targeting?

People who remember the old days I guess

I imagine these have too many nannies on them now to be able to make them into what people remember

No actually. I meant the motor.

The previous supra motor was known for being able to be built into utter ridiculous daily drivers.

The BMW motor will not have that durability.

As for hp vs torque, I agree torque will crunch that trans.
