This looks cool as hell but there ain't no way I am hooking something capable of starting a V8 truck to my laptop.

Just doesn't compute.

That thing wouldn't turn my truck over in a million years if one of the batteries goes bad. Hell jumper cables off another truck won't even do it.

I have been considering getting a unit such as this. After laughing at the term 'Antigravity Battery' for a minute, I had to google it. Turns out its a Nanophosphate Lithium system, and is incapable of creating a mass effect field. Its a cool gadget but that last part is a deal breaker.

That makes no sense whatsoever. Are you a girl or something?

OK. You take some questionably built power device carrying that much amperage and hook it to your sensitive electronics. These are likely built by the same folks that made the hoverboard batteries that catch fire.

I am no electrical engineer but I have a basic enough understanding to know that this isn't a great idea. I am sure an OT Engineer will be along shortly to rule on this.

The $40 says it can jump a 2.5L car 15 times. But could it jump a 4.0L car 5 times? I'm confused on this.

I'm guessing no....

Well, I'm no EE (but I do have a degree in EE )

I have a unit similar to that and use it to power all sorts of electronics. These things have been around for a while now, so I think your caution is a bit unwarranted.

Things are badass. We have a bunch of guys at the shop with them jumping off F-650s. They are having problems with them lasting though.

Little fricker jumped off a F 250 Diesel with 2 batteries
You saw this? I have had an F250 with two dead batteries multiple times that weren't even able to be jumped with one big, rolling charger/jumper. I even hooked up two trucks to mine once, and it wouldn't jump

yep. Went to buy a lawnmower from a dude and the battery on it was dead. He went to his truck to get it and jumped off the mower. I was impressed with the size of it and he told me it would jump off a diesel. Ole boy had several trucks at his house and one had a weak battery in it. Just clicked when turning the key. He hooked it to the passenger side battery and waited about 10 seconds and cranked the fricking thing. Damndest thing i ever seen't

Damn. It's only good for one large jump though, right?

This thread reminded me that I need to get a new alternator

Why would you need it for more than one jump? Jump your car, plug it in to the cigarette charger, recharge, good to go...?

When they say that it will jump a 2.5L 15 times that is on one battery charge correct?

Might not work the first time or might forget to charge it. In the case of a diesel, if you run it out of fuel, you're gonna be priming the pump and cranking for a while

My Dodge is the same way. It won't jump with a big charger/starter or jumper cables and that's with one dead battery.

I would trust amazon. I had bought Christmas lights. After using them (like eight months later) Amazon sent me an email and a refund for all the lights. Someone found they were mislisted and not UL listed, and Amazon refunded each strand anyone bought. They do similar things for counterfeits. If it don't work they will refund.

Be cool if it could also wake up deeply discharged batteries, like a stick welder does. (but is scary as shite to do)

I won one of these at work, I forgot the name brand but last I checked it was about $140 on amazon. I'm very impressed with it, I've jumped vehicles with it but it usually just sits next to my lawn mower because I regularly have to jump start it. I've never actually had it die and I've jumped my mower many times in between charging. It also has two USB ports so it's great for keeping my phone and tablet charged in the deer stand or long trips/air ports.
