actual study
quote:

After witnessing students come up with widely variable estimates for megalodon size, Victor Perez reviewed the longstanding calculations.

He eventually helmed a study modeling the extinct shark’s jaw from teeth width, offering new size parameters for the species.

Previously thought to be 50 to 60 feet, some estimates find certain megalodon sharks to be up to 148 feet in length.

damn.

Talk about apex predator if that is accurate.

When you’re a shark and have a dick on your forehead, you think people would go “mighty small forehead dick you have there” or just “you got a dick on your forehead.”

A pod of orcas would end a Megaladon with a quickness I bet if they wanted to.

They are the ultimate product of evolution at this point (outside of the human brain obviously).

If that’s true it would be the largest creature ever to have lived

We like to think about how big dinosaurs were but the largest animals to have ever lived are in earth right now

They've got weird looking vaginas on their backs. It's the source of their power.

ETA:

It is near the top of my bucket list to see one up close. Not the blowhole, the whale, but the hole would come with it I guess.

If this ol' baw can get this big today:

Think about how big he could get just 200 or so years ago with fewer people fricking with him and his habitat.

Now, think about how big the biggest shark could get with literally no human to frick with it or its habitat.

Sharks aren't smaller because of humans. There are far fewer of them for sure, but the biggest ones are still some of the oldest and biggest we know to have ever existed.

It is fun to imagine what marine life would be like if humans never fricked up the oceans.
