Me and the missus have rented a beach house this weekend to get a slight change in scenery. I know everything is shut down but we can’t take another weekend sitting on the same damn couch watching TV. Has anyone driven I10 that far or been around the OB area lately? Wondering if I will get harassed at check points or road blocks around the beach. TIA

So you’re going to pay $$$ to go sit on someone else’s overpriced couch and not do anything? Brilliant idea!

Why are you not listening to your governor and mayor?

You New Orleanians should shelter in place until a vaccine is produced.

I’m not aware of checkpoints until across the FL line at the welcome station.

Not going to be any checkpoints in Bama. Don't know about MS, but I highly doubt there would be any. Should be a nice, low traffic drive. Enjoy. You can visit the Bucee's at the Foley exit.

You’re fine. No checkpoints along the route to OB.

Only checkpoint is in Florida.

This is the reason Florida beaches may not open until July. The moment they open up, infected New Orleans is going to flock there. Okaloosa and Walton county hospitals can’t handle a large influx of patients.

All traffic on I-10E is being diverted through a weigh station a few hundred yards into Florida

but yes, that's after the Baldwin exit, I forget you get off right before the line on I-10. I'm more of sandestin kind of guy

This is not going to be the case. They will be open with restrictions long before then.

Blalocks may still be open since they’re a market. Damn good steamed shrimp and crabs.

The vast, vast majority of New Orleans COVID infections are poor folks who don't visit the beaches...

I know a few folks who have flown into florida and gone to the beach directly in front of their resort. One couple is on the beach this morning in St Pete

That’s great. We drove in last night (Walton county) to check on the house and clean some things up. Neighbor said the Sheriff has been running people off the beach every day for the last 2 weeks.

I’m not a New Orleanian but this is asinine. They should shelter in place for another 12-18 months?

Thanks for all the helpful answers fellas. I’m not going to even take the bait on anything else in this thread. I’ll handle you sky screamers in the daily LA numbers thread.

Will I still be able to walk over to FloraBama from the Alabama side or they going to set a checkpoint up at Waffle House?
