In the heavyweight class, probably. A bunch of the flyweight level ones like the mayor of Ball, LA, and Port Allen, LA, were really bad on a smaller scale area.
Yeah true, but could you imagine what she’d be like in a small town with less media attention, public scrutiny, and preexisting red tape? She’d declare herself Queen.

That’s a shame. I used some of those old race shirts in a blanket that I made from prior races.

I found the problem.
Good riddance, I say. I have a friend who works in a major hotel downtown. He said that these marathon guests would use air fryers and Instant Pots in the bathtubs of their rooms. Savages.

I tried looking, but does anyone know if there is information that shows how many police both New Orleans and Baton Rouge has year to year?

Why not change it to a Jefferson Parish Venue and you could theme it accordingly.

Rock n Roll Marathon is so gay. Just call it the New Orleans Marathon despite that the establishment wants you to call it.

A social media post from a local race promoter:
Announced this morning on local radio. Rock n Roll New Orleans 2023 will Not be happening. News not new to me, known regarding for many months. That said, one wonders WHY the City of New Orleans will thus miss out on a annual 40 plus million $$ economic income benefit.
*My comments regarding, JUST MY OPINION
1. The City of New Orleans while it understands financial impacts of conventions hosted. Does not relate that the thousands of participants, family, friends traveling to the RnR event are the same as a convention. Hotels, restaurants, convention center and more.
2. Unfortunately the City of New Orleans and related services such as the Police Department are not sufficient in numbers to coordinate traffic control and security for the Half-Marathon and / or Marathon course. Current permit restrictions imposed for all run/walk events limit the distance to 10K or less. Two recent downtown based events one a 5K and one a 10K were coordinated with use of police from multiple jurisdictions. The RnR event pays the entire bill ( ...and it's a hefty one ) for site security, course security and traffic control, EMS. With the millions in economic impact at stake one would wonder if and perhaps why other jurisdictions at a greater level were not considered. My opinion is as noted previously. The City does not relate this Run/Walk event as a convention event. Earlier this year the event was held and due to the same circumstances as denoted above the site and course had to be relocated to the University of New Orleans and lakefront area course. Simply stated. Runners and Walkers coming to New Orleans come here to enjoy the French Quarter, Warehouse District, St. Charles Avenue. The lakefront while nice does not suffice. Would you see a major convention held on the lakefront ?
Some have suggested Jefferson Parish. I'm a resident of Jefferson Parish. Great place to live. However understand this please with no disrespect meant. People Do Not fly to New Orleans to become tourists in Jefferson Parish or to participate in a major event such as this.
3. In closing, we are at a loss. Both promotionally as now becoming one of a very few cancelled RnR events and loss of much needed $$ to New Orleans. The draw of New Orleans on a national level for RnR is dynamic, people love to visit our city.
I do not foresee any change anytime soon to the present status.
