NOLA crime has been out of control for a long time. Just because we aren't setting record highs doesn't mean we aren't still the worst crime rate per capita in the country. Your post included significant evidence that we are still far and away the worst per capita, and that's a scary thought. Highest crime rate per capita means people in Nola are more likely to be the victim of violent crime than anywhere else in the country. That needs to be addressed, it's a very serious issue

Look, some people take it too lightly. But, it's annoying when people claim that it's NOW getting outta control when it's been this way for decades.

Great news for all those that have been affected by the ones who were murdered. The rates are down and some guy on the internet said people should be celebrating only 300+ murders per year.

what an idiotic post. Earlieryou said this board is full of idiots. Apparently you are one of the bigger ones. Let me quite something from my OP.

quote:

Not saying NOLA does not have a violent crime problem, because it does. But all the drama about it worsening is...well unfounded drama. My point is that crime in NOLA is NOT getting more out of control, as many here proclaim.

But you keep putting words in my mouth to meet your agenda.

People are saying that bc there have been notable incidents of regular people, not street thugs and people close to them, being murdered. When the regular person feels more threatened than normal, we panic more and become more concerned about it. It's not as easy to dismiss murders when they happen to people like you

Oh, please expand on this. So before you knew that all the people getting shot were criminals?

What is my agenda? I live a parish away from the city but work every day in the city. Am I not supposed to be upset by the amount of crime where I frequent every day?
WTF is your agenda a-hole?

I think people feel it's more out of control now, because in the 80's and early 90's, respectable cities like NYC (in the 80's), and Chicago (in the early 90's) would be on these lists. While NYC and Chicago have progressed to an almost absurd level of safeness in the past two decades, NOLA has remained in the top three, up there with the popular destinations like Flint and Defroit.

Not at all. I am uncool with those who whine that NOLA crime is getting more out of control.

It is still out of control and the police force is severly innept along with every other aspect of the city gov't.
And if the numbers are down overall, it's quite possibly because it has spilled into the surrounding parishes. The South shore as a whole is becoming shite.

Let me finish that quote for you. And quit with the faux outrage. You started this thread saying the murders weren't a big deal. Clearly you don't care who is getting murdered anyway unless it furthers your absurd agenda

He is definitely a troll. After LSU won the BCS championship game in 2004, he trolled hard about USC being the true champion, split champion, etc. Even his username is an obscure troll at LSU being invited to the Tangerine Bowl and not a more prestigious bowl game. Eventually, people paid less attention to his posts and his posts became more and more disjointed and disturbing. Either he was banned or was smart enough to take a mental health break from TD.

A couple of years pass and he shows back up with a new troll shtick- social justice warrior with a case of white guilt.
Remember when his shtick was being hot for Mark Sanchez?

Ah, the good old days...

ANd here we have another with reading comprehension problems. I said or implied nothing of the sort.

Let me quote something from the OP you conveniently left out.

Your point is stupid and you are arguing against semantics. the crime rate is still terrible. Why does it bother you that people are saying it is terrible? This makes zero sense.

Nola isn't going to change. It's been like this for a few hundred years now.

Look, tangerine is a fricking moron in my book, but you've got your head up your arse trying to claim no one claims NOLA is getting worse. Come on. Read any of a hundred threads the last couple days here.
