Could it be that city officials felt the need to call in the State Troopers in order to get crime under control?
I hope they try to quell it

Let's put this is small town Louisiana terms. If the current low rate was extrapolated to Sulphur, LA (town of 20k and change), the rate would have dropped from peak of 17 murders to a current rate of 8.5 murders/year. Or West Monroe (about 15k people), the rate would be 12 murders at the peak and drop to 6 murders currently.
Number 3 rating of murders/per capita is what you are bragging about. That's not good.

Crime rates are lower but crime is moving into areas that were once nice. It's a huge problem in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Yeah, forget the numbers, forget the rates. Forget objective data. But next time you come across a story about a violent crime, be sure to scream loudly how crime is getting out of control.

I've never seen such a little man syndrome about anything on this site than New Orleans. It's worse than ULL and LSU.

I see that you didn't understand what I typed.

When you are able to reclassify a murder as a suicide or as "unexplained," or an assault as "disturbing the peace," then things get real muddled.

While I agree with you that murders and violent crime are down across the country over the last couple of decades, it is still a major problem in New Orleans and other major cities across the country. Murders in 2015 rose from the previous years and with social media and the 24 hour news it's a lot more in our face than it used to be.

New York City went from 2,260 to about 350, now that's the progress we should strive for.

I don't get the hate a lot of BRLA folks have for NOLA.

Just don't talk about crime.

Not saying NOLA does not have a violent crime problem, because it does. But all the drama about it worsening is...well unfounded drama.

Peoples say it's worsening or that it's a horrible problem plaguing the city?

Because, from your own link:

quote:

even with that effort, New Orleans still has a murder rate that's almost four times the average for a city its size — and much higher than big cities such as Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. By early July, murders hit triple digits, two months earlier than in recent years. Harrison says that's not due to a rise in gang crime.

Ah, the old conspiracy theory. Who is behind it? Obama I bet.

ANd if it's done today, you don't think it was done 10-15 years ago. It evens out baw.

Murder rate is pretty much the only stat worth looking at when comparing cities or time periods. What, how, and when other crimes get reported varies but most murders get logged in the books as murder.

According to stats there's more violent crime in Nashville and Houston than NOLA but who really believes that?

I'm glad the murder rate has gone down though. Too bad it's still shite.

There's a criminal culture problem in the black ghetto in every city and its not getting better.

You can make all anti police threads and pro Afro lack of crime threads you want but you're just kidding yourself. All races are indeed annoyed with urban crime. Keep watching and reading your white guilt news outlets. Maybe one day you'll quit being a crusader for a lost and incorrect cause.

You're always wrong btw. About everything you feel and view.

There are people here who absolutely say it's worsening and getting "more out of control". ANd that is who this thread is really addressed to.
