I love NOLA but would never live there.

Depends on what you're looking for in a city. Culture, food, entertainment, history, neighborhood feel? New Orleans.

Atlanta is just not that special or unique IMO. It has a hint of it here and there, but it lacks the soul and unique culture that New Orleans enjoys in ridiculous abundance. Just depends on what you value in a city. For me, I'll take the city known for amazing food on every corner over the city that gave us a Waffle House.

It also depends on what your profession is. If you're an engineer in the oilfield, obviously your not going to ATL. There's no sand zones anywhere near ATL

For me personally, New Orleans:

-closer to family and friends.
-driving distance to family place in Orange Beach.
-Saints & LSU games
-Nola has a better live music scene, IMO.

Yea! Atlanta is completely devoid of good food! It's only waffle houses and Krystal's!

I moved to Atlanta from NOLA a few months ago. I would rather live in NOLA without a doubt, can't wait to move back.

I prefer New Orleans, but if I had to work in Atlanta I'd live in Alpharetta - really nice city on the outskirts of Atlanta.

New Orleans by miles. Atlanta goes on forever.

The only city I'd rather live in than NOLA is San Diego.

If I had the same job, definitely not Atlanta. Too much traffic for the amount i drive. It would drive me nuts

I hear you get used to it. Not sure I would though, GA400 north in the afternoon is hell.

I work in Alpharetta but live in Gwinnett county. Not much better but used to it

Atlanta has great food, good shopping, great areas like Virgina Highlands, Buckhead, Roswell, etc. It has everything that a city should have except interesting people that inhabit it and create a groundswell of personality. Whenever I go out to a really great restaurant, there is no synergy or excitement in the room. People just seem to go out to want to be seen at the "hot" places. Atlanta seems to have a lot, but it doesn't have "it" IMO. It seems like a very large and built up Baton Rouge- good place to raise a family or make a living, just not very exciting.

Didn't say that. It actually does have some good food, and is on the rise in the new southern cooking scene, but pound for pound, it's not even close to being comparable to the plethora of amazing food options you have in NOLA, and everywhere you look. That's pretty much a given if you've traversed the streets of the city outside the quarter. Few places outside of NYC, SF, perhaps Miami, and New Orleans for certain where you can be in the middle of some old neighborhood, walk into some obscure old grocery store on the corner of the neighborhood and get one of the best poboys you've ever had in your life. That's what makes New Orleans New Orleans, and why it's so different from most everywhere else. Besides that, and in difference to the limited influences in other cities, New Orleans baths in the influences of the French, Germans, Italians, Irish, French influenced Africans, and Many others. It's just a really unique place, and that's why it's special.
