The 14 belts in the current MSY are rarely all used. Again, a comparable airport like DAL has the same setup and it works flawlessly. You keep bragging about the current setup, but I’ve never waited as long as I have to at MSY when I check a bag.

You sound like some disgruntled union hack. Common use baggage claims are used all across the world.

How much longer do you think it will take a typical local traveler to get from the parking lot to his gate in the new airport DC?

Depends where you park. I don’t park in the discount lots. I park in the long term garage and walk to the terminal or I get dropped off.

Current MSY is a gigantic piece of shite

Everybody says this but I have no clue what it means.

I don’t go to airports to eat, and I’ve never had a bad experience flying in or out of MSY.

Not saying that MSY didn’t need renovate or expand, but a brand new billion dollar terminal seems like overkill.

Dolliole is buoyant on the revenue opportunities at MSY to offset the significant debt the Aviation Department is taking on to finance the project. The majority of the costs are being covered through airline-backed bonds and bonds backed by passenger charges. Other sources include grants, including $90 million from the FAA.

The 2,750-space Long Term Garage is under construction now, and is located across from the arrivals area on the east side of the facility. The area was originally planned as a surface parking lot, but a significant increase in passenger numbers led the airport to proactively reevaluate its parking plans. In October 2018, construction on the second garage began. It is expected to be completed in two phases with the part of the garage closest to the terminal opening in July 2019 and the full facility complete in September 2019. Another parking option adjacent to the terminal is a 685-space Surface Parking Lot, which offers convenient parking just a short walk way at a lower rate. The garage that currently operates as the Long Term Garage at the existing terminal will become a remote 2,438-space Economy Garage with optimized shuttle service available to and from the new terminal.

Dude you seriously don't know what you are talking about. I'll be sure to get your take on the 'jazz garden' while you wait on your bags. Have 8 fewer bag belts is not a good thing. The things I said are concerns that both management and 'union hacks' have (along with other issues that I didn't mention).

You don't know dick and that's fine. I've worked at this airport and two other pretty big airports... there is no reason why this airport should have been designed the way it was. Don't be a dumb twat your whole life.

How much do you want to wager that no one notices any delay in baggage? I’ll wager it will be more efficient than the current system and travelers will applaud the new airport.

Why don’t you bless us with what your position is at the airport?

When someone who clearly doesn't understand what they are talking about tries to act like they know more... it get annoying.

If this was a dick sucking contest this person would know what they are talking about.

Uhhh 2750 spaces is not that many but go ahead.

I will not believe it will be a superior terminal for local travelers until I actually use it.

Here are the 25 busiest airport in the USA

How many of these airports have built new replacement terminals in the last 20 years???

I mean, to be fair, I would think those folks have a bit better grasp of the operations than those who simply fly out of it several times a year.

It’s more than the existing garages that I park in weekly.

Most of those airports have undergone extensive renovations, but their current infrastructure was set up as such that they didn’t need to reinvent the wheel.

The current MSY is a conglomeration of different terminals operating independently. Change can be a good thing, embrace it.

Yes, joe blow baggage handler has a better grasp on airport operations than the people who designed the airport.

What an inane response to what I said.
