Pretty common practice to not rent to young men. They destroy property at a much higher rate. Tons of landlords in college used to have girl only policies.

I wouldn’t. Having a tenant that acted / treated the property like my friends and me is nauseating.
The only way I’d consider it is if it was a graduate or foreign exchange student.

I have two rental properties in a college area and I only rent to girls.
It’s the skinny and white issue that got him into trouble.
For the record: girls are just as nasty as guys - even more so. The cleanup at the end of the year is worse for girls actually.
But girls don’t punch holes in your walls, break your lighting fixtures, rip off cabinet doors, tear your fans off the ceiling, etc.

But it should be. It's his time, money and risk in play here. As the owner of the property, he should be able to handpick his tenants. If he passes up the chance to rent to a bunch of young dudes because he is afraid they will destroy his property, it should be his right to protect his investment. If those dudes destroy the place, is Big Brother going to pay to repair it?
