I love how everyone runs here to talk about the health benefits, yet many of you will be stuffing your faces with fast food this weekend and that's OK. And I'm not a smoker I simply do not agree with cash stopped cities making poor financial decisions due to public pressure. Losing smoking in Harrah alone will cost the state millions because the regulars will not be walking blocks to go outside and then have to reenter. Save your for every one smoker gains five nonsmokers that's just bs.

So regulate nothing? No laws in America? Surely you think some laws are justifiable.
Nothing is ever that black and white.

Private property? Its a business Holmes. You want the FDA to keep making sure your favorite restaurant isn't serving you rat meat?

yeah unless that business is owned by the state, it's private property

i don't believe in the FDA, either
i don't really worry about being served rat meat b/c a business that did would not last long. the market would sort that out quickly
especially today

if people want to eat rat feel free

When eating fast food makes someone else sick, your post will have some kind of merit.

Are you serious? Do you know how many people avoid smoking establishments on purpose? Since the majority of Americans do not smoke i would say they will gain more than they lose. I might actually go to harrahs now.

Fast food causes you to be fat, fat people cost insurance companies more money. Thus fat people increase my premiums. Thanks for playing.

i certainly believe in laws that exist to protect private property and crimes against the person of others
after that you have to convince me, but i can be swayed if you argue that a law creating a public good would lower transaction costs for trade, thus protecting and facilitating more free trade amongst free persons (roads may fall into this)
our country was formed by tobacco farming. we've smoked inside well before we formed a state. we're getting on just fine without need of regulation in that area

And that makes you directky sick how? Swing and a miss champ.

When you say both sides, you mean smokers vs non-smokers? Or government vs. people? Or something else?
im talking about both.
because you agree with a law, does that mean "it's something that you like"?
I mean there are tons of laws in America.
The smoking one for instance. Say you disagree with the smoking ban. These people (liars) are trying to portray that a business owner should have to follow no rules or regulations. I mean that is basically what they are telling us in this thread. "It should be there choice!"

then why aren't non-smoking places dominating the market? if the dominant market force is non-smoking bars, they should be winning
why is a law necessary?

and restaurants & other business have proven they can get along just fine without it. This isnt the 1800s bro.

well if non-smoking bars are so popular, why aren't they winning the war of ideas in the market?
why is government necessary to guide their idea to a victory?

I don't know if you're an anarchist or another republican pretending to be conservative, but laws are necessary.
You seem pretty up in arms about this smoking stuff. Are you equally as vocal about laws prohibiting people from buying alcohol on Sunday in basically EVERY red state in America?

the vast majority of them are not. there was a vast layer of excrement calling itself a law prior to this one...and it's adding to the pile

uh yeah. i'm actually thinking of using it as a platform to push libertarian ideology locally to grow my following
