I would agree with you on the weed that was available to our parents.

What is available now is a lot more potent, thanks to modern science and plant manipulation via cross pollination.

Lester, I don't smoke and think it's a disgusting habit. I also don't like being around it, just like you.

I choose to go to smoke free bars, like the pelican house.

When I do go to a smoker friendly bar with friends who want to, I don't complain because no one there is doing anything they arent allowed to do.

Im pro gay marriage. And i'm certainly not racist.

no

i'm defending the rights of the business owner and the market

if the market dictates that most bars are smoking, then that is what it is. i don't have to defend reality

if you are arguing that smoking is bad bc it's unhealthy, then why not support an outright ban?

and why stop at smoking?

#1 cause of death for black men age 30-50 is heart disease. (CDC Data)

Fried food greatly increases the chance and severity of heart disease. (studies too numerous to mention)

by law, black men age 30-50 should not be allowed to buy or consume fried chicken since it a detriment to their health.

I don't complain either. Really its the next morning when i feel the worse. But it sure is going to be nice to not have to worry about that now. Business owners(those that are even upset by it) are going to get over it very quickly. A lot of bars were going that route anyway.

again, my views are not all encompassing. Every topic is different. Maybe there are other things we should look into. IDK, id have to be presented with it before I state my opinion.

It's their health, not mine.

2nd hand smoke affects my health. A black person eating fried chicken doesn't.

We can agree on that. From the non smokers perspective it is going to be nice to not smell like smoke the next day, and I'll like that.

What I do not like is government forcing rules on private owners. Look beyond just smoking, if the government can do this to smoking, they can do it to anything.

ETA: Also the next rule (whatever it may be) might not just be in businesses, it could be in private residences.

Are you arguing to get rid of smoke so someone can poison themselves without getting second hand poison?

Only if you allow yourself to be in its presence. We're discussing private businesses, not public places

They do, still doesn't make it right. Next time it may not just be business' though. It could happen to your private residence.

I do, but I like reading contradiction and stupidity. IDGAF about the ban because not a single place I frequent will follow it. Actually don't mind going outside at Balcony Bar because it gives me a chance to relax and finger whatever girls I'm talking to in peace.

Sometimes, I just like going outside and taking a break from being inside the bar. Forcing me to constantly walk in and out is not my cup of tea, and I'm not doing it when there are other places who won't make me do it.

I'm not a dick when I smoke. I actually really dislike smoking inside...except at bars. I'm not rude about it, and most people would be surprised because I actually have manners when I do. Hell, even I have had to walk out of bars for a breath of fresh air every now and then, but I am not gonna tell people what to do. If I don't want to be somewhere, I'll just remove myself. Not that hard

This has already been done in some places.

Wouldn't all of these people who absolutely cannot go to bars because they allow smoking just go to a nonsmoking bar?

Bars will lose a good bit of business because smokers will find the one place that allows it. There aren't gonna be any more non-smokers going to bars, just less smokers. The fact of the matter is that there are non-smoking bars, and people would rather bitch than go to them. Neighborhood bars will be hit the hardest by this, and I'd suspect a lot of them will close if they follow it.
