I went yesterday very early to cemetary carrolton & cohn streets.

Thugs were still sleeping. In & out. Put some flowers.

ONLY reason i'd go to Nola.

I had Bear Spray and a 357 magnum. And looked like an owl swiveling .

In the last month or so, I’ve been both to San Fransisco and New Orleans. Somehow, I didn’t die a single time. I should buy a lottery ticket, according to the OT

Literally asking if it’s safe to go to the zoo is the definition of making it out to be worse, a lot worse, than it really is.

If you are driving in on I-10 I’d consider getting your car bulletproofed.

New Orleans just pulled off Mardi Gras, French quarter fest, & jazz fest without much incident against precious white people

I would keep my head on a swivel day or night anywhere in the CBD or the FQ.
The security camera video of the two tourists getting mugged, in daylight , next to the building that sits right in the middle of the parking lot in n front of the Westin is proof enough

And how exactly are we “ridiculous?” “Ridiculous “ as in NO is not as bad as it’s made out to be? To hear the media talk, it’s a war zone.

All residents are murdered weekly. Those who visit tourist destinations like the aquarium never comeback.

Honest Answer - From a New Orleanian

How old is your daughter?

Audubon Zoo - very safe, safe parking, plenty places to eat and enjoy surrounding the Zoo, Audubon Park, St. Charles Ave. Street Car, Tulane, Loyola, etc..

Aquarium - Certainly safe inside and during the day. Caesar's Casino nearby, also safe. French Quarter nearby, MEH. If you are tempted to walk the French Quarter, do so during the daytime it is safe to eat and drink in the FQ during the day. If you are tempted to go to the FQ at night, you are taking a risk. I would go at night, but I'm local and would not bring my kids. Be aware of your surroundings, know where you are going and don't put yourselves at risk.

ETA: Your passes may be good for the Bug Museum too. if they are (probably are) go in there and eat some bugs!!

Yeeeaah we don’t yet have teleportation pods so some driving, parking and walking to the entrance might be required.

Yeah, I'm sure the zoo is pretty safe. I've never heard of anyone getting murdered or mugged in the Audubon Zoo.

Now, if you park there you're car may get broken into. That goes for pretty much everywhere in NOLA.

So, do the right planning...don't ride alone, go early/mid-day time of day, don't make yourself vulnerable (know where parking, no walking alone, etc.)
the fact that you have to do all of this proves the point that NOLA isn’t safe

Insectarium is closed. They are adding it to the Aquarium.

The fact that you post this proves you are an idiot.

That is good advice for any large urban center. It holds for people going out in the French Quarter as well as other low-income areas of the city. Same as most other decent sized cities and/or pockets of poor.
