Perfect day for the show. Two jets did not go but they used the backup jet. 5 total flew. The jets flying prior were awesome as well. Highly recommend going tomorrow

Only two planes have been taken down by small arms fire thus far.

Yeah, that’s kind of frowned upon over the lower 48, with a few exceptions

Tell that to the folks at Edwards, Area 51 and Section 4.

Civil Engineering spends more time replacing cracked windows on base housing than just about anything else, due to the sonic booms...

Seeing the F-35 in person was incredible. Seeing three of them in one show was crazy.

Getting in is easy as can be. Leaving is an absolute nightmare. The Bariere parking is probably the best place to park if you're worried about getting stuck. Blue gate was a nightmare free-for-all.

what time did the F35s fly? Do you know whether the program is the same for both days? We went today from 3-4 and considering going back tomorrow? TIA

I parked at the gate just past the main gate. It’s across the street from the Chevron refinery. Had no problem getting out. Got stuck in awful traffic trying to cross the CCC.
Saw the two Blue Angels planes being towed away. Hopefully they get them fixed for you baws tomorrow.
The F 35 is super cool, but I’ve always loved the P 51 Mustang. Caught both flights and it was magnificent.
One other thing, food prices were high as giraffe nuts.

Looking through my phone at the times I took pics of stuff:

USAF heritage flight with F-16 and F-35 happened around 12-12:30 followed by the Viper demo solo and then the F-35 solo demo.

USN heritage flight happened roughly an hour or so after with an FG1 (Goodyear F4U Corsair) with an USN/Marine F-35 which then landed and another F-35 did a solo demo.

We just got home. Had a ball. Kids loved it. Great getting to see both a F35A and F35C. Can really tell the difference especially wing size.

The Bayou Militia F15s and the River Rattlers F18s put on a hell of a show. Representing the home crowd well.

That dude that flew the Red Bull plane is insane. I’ve seen RC planes fly like that. Never an actual aircraft.

The P51 is such a sexy airplane. Hearing that Merlin purr as it flew by was really a thing of beauty.

Bummer about the two Blues that wouldn’t start, but those guys are the ultimate professionals. They pulled the pilot out of #2 to get #7, and then when 1 wouldn’t start the CO jumped into the #3 plane and they flew without a slot pilot. Still put on a great show.

I’ve been to the Wings Over Houston show the last 2 years and saw the Thunderbirds last year but have never seen the Blue Angels. One day, one day..:

Living at Edwards, we saw the Thunderbirds practicing almost every day. Just go out to the flight line and sit to watch. It was better when the Promotions Officer was practicing at the same time. Like a real air show.

Is that the one that puts you on the runway for parking they used a few years back? I’m not terribly familiar with all the parking lot or gate names. Heading there tomorrow with my dad and a few others.

Not sure how they were getting away with it.

There are exceptions. Belle Chase has a mission that would allow them to break the barrier, if needed.

Best sounding airplane humans have put in the sky. If you disagree, you can jump off a fricking bridge.

Ya, if you park at the back gate get there earlier than you think. We got there at 830 and didn't make it to the flight line until like 1015. That would be my only complaint, but I'm not even complaining really..
More just a heads up that you need to get there earlier.

F35s we're awesome. River Rats were awesome. Blue angels had issues, probably something minor but still awesome.

We had a great time. The sun/wind whooped my arse though.
