If you take the star and writing off the bottom right corner, that would actually be one of the better looking state flags.
Most of the the US state flags are horrible. Do a search and look at them.

Sorry to break the news to you but MS is ranked above its neighbors to both the east and west, and has been for a while now.

While certainly better, the old flag makes me think of the blood dipped banner, which is probably accurate since it's from 1861.
Of course, cancel culture won't recognize that. How about just a simplified magnolia bloom on Wyoming-like background?
