As long as heavy regulations are placed on recreational marijuana products the black market marijuana will still thrive.

This is what's happening in California. Regulators are forcing the growers to pay a shite ton in permits which places all sorts of limiters on how marijuana can be grown and what legally can be sold at licensed distributors.

Lots of growers are just remaining sellers in the shadows trying to avoid state regulators.

The regulations are just giving huge advantages to huge corporations, because they have the capital to offset regulatory costs. Go figure.

Good for them. It should be legal everywhere.

It's legal here and the black market for weed is virtually invisible.

I mean, are we really surprised that California would over-regulate something?

From everything I've read, New Mexico is looking to emulate the Colorado model, which seems to be working much, much better than California's.

It's not about openness or being mainstream. Plenty of people already smoke marijuana.

It will be. We are getting 2-3 newly legal recreational states per year it looks like. The tax revenue other states are raking in has more jumping on that train as anticipated. Nearly half the states have it decriminalized and that number too is growing.

My prediction: states will continue to legalize and once we get to around 20-25 in the next 5-10 years, it will become federally legal.

Then the remaining states (ie, Gulf Coast mostly) will move along more quickly, albeit late
