I've seen a ton of posts in the hurricane thread about people who bought generators with intentions of bringing them back if they don't lose power. That's some sort of trashy folks, hopefully they slap a big ol restock fee on your arse.

50% restock fee would be awesome.

Agreed. If I owned a store that sold generators it would be one of the above

Why? If they don't use it, and it's still in the box, why wouldn't you let them return it?

because I don't want a fricking pile of generators on the shelf that I only brought in because of the hurricane ?

Why would I want to take back a product I can't sell regularly or at full price again?

They’ve put themselves in a position of power.

Why not just put a "No returns" sign on the shelf?

Seems like it'd be more productive than posting on TD telling people not to return them

I kid you not, the other day I was at Walmart getting charcoal, I saw a woman return the following:

5 camping/tailgating chairs
2 canopies
Tent stakes
A charcoal grill
3 air mattresses
2 air pumps

It was July 5th...

That’s terrible. People like that need to be publicly shamed.

Not like they’d give a frick, but still.

When I worked at Sears, we had a customer bring an obviously well used table saw back. Said it wasn't performing like it did when it was new. No receipt and attachments missing. I turned the matter over to the asst store manager. 20 minutes latter, he walked past me waving his credit receipt.

I think it should be store policy that when this type of severe weather is in season and being reported as an emergency, then all sales are final. Comes with a lifetime guarantee so the consumer doesn’t feel abused by the policy, and in return they can’t be trashy by returning it after the bad weather passes.
