enver is a better place to live but would require at least 20% more money to maintain the same lifestyle. Even at 20% you would likely need a smaller house.

Where you getting that number from?

The cost of living is 11.61% higher in Denver-Aurora-Lakewood CO Metro.

Assuming OP makes $100,000 per year, he'd need to make $111,608.96 to maintain the same lifestyle.

Add in income tax and you're pretty close to the 20%

Not only are you racist, you are also uninformed. Denver is the largest city in the state. Not only that its in the top 25 largest cities in the country

Denver rent is quite high, but there is a lot to do and has a vibrant social culture. If you are under 30, you would have a lot of fun.

Recruiters just don't hit people up near as often as public because the turnover difference. Has nothing to do with ability or smarts or anything like that.

Eta: and most of the time I'm just trying to piss people off.

I would go with Denver, however the cost of rent and property is astronomical compared to Houston. That will definitely have to factor in.

If all other things were just about even then this here would be enough to sway me.

The cost of living is much higher here in Denver. But I am not sure what you're currently making. I made the move from Dallas to Denver about 6 months ago. I have no family here so that has been tough on me. But overall, the experience of living somewhere new has been fun. The exposure it provides within the company is also great.

I am not sure what your debt is like. But, I would suggest you make at least 85K a year if you have student loans, car note, etc if you want to move here and live in the city.

Not sure how your source got to that number. State income taxes add 4.77% alone;

Ties to Houston? Increase money or responsibility? Better company? Do you mind the snow in the winter? Are you married or do you have kids?

Answer those questions and then make a decision.

Why would you consider moving?

Is it a better company with more opportunity upside?

The pay should be more minimum 10% but 15--20% more says they are interested in and not just filling a job slot

I have worked in both cities and while Denver is the better city it also is cold. Make sure you can handle the climate change. (I lived in cold climate for over 7 years- trust me it is different)

Can you handle being away from family?

Is the family all on board with the move?
