I would raise the U, so that the highest point is a couple of inches above the point where the sink and the plumbing meet.

I have never used Jet Dry. What is the point and does it work?

My Bosch 800 series came all connected at the unit. I just hooked it to the water supply, drain, and plugged it in. I read up on install and watched an hour of videos about installing Bosch. It was a bit of a let down actually.

Bosch's don;t have a heating element to dry dishes. the Jet Dry is a drying agent. Yes, it works.

If you have a Dishwasher made in the last ten years, you almost have to use Jet dry for them to come out clean.
It's an additive. Goes in the jet-dry holder of the soap dispenser. Your Whirlpool has it.

Also the impeller was jammed, in that case it would be leaving more than a small puddle.
This video would save people $130 if they did this when it stopped draining. A clogged impeller is much much more common than a failed pump.

I know napoleon is the man on appliances... but I like my kitchen aid. Not quite as quiet as some of the bosch units, but it cleans well. Paid more than $600 though.
It was either Bosch or KitchenAid. They put the new handles to match the handles on the new Kitchen Aid ranges (have one) and that's what the wife liked.
That being said... it's being compared to the probably 10 year old non cleaning piece of shite that was in the home when we bought it.
Does wash the dishes really well though.

it doesn't clean, but it keeps the film from forming on dishes. It's like a rain-x.
But food safe.
Best way I can describe it. It forces water to wick off quicker.
Most of the modern Dishwashers are getting away from using the big Calrod heaters, the ones that do still use elements use much smaller ones. Others like Fisher Paykel have gone to small surface radiant elements, others like Bosch don't use heating elements at all.

Only issue i have with my bosch is that The bottom rack is a weird design. Looks like it's made strictly for plates and it's hard to put bigger dishes without using up the entire rack

I can't say how many times I have been called out to a "no drain dishwasher" and I get there and I can see that the pump is working. I then ask "did you recently install a garbage disposal?" Most of the time the husband installed the disposal and they didn't knock the plug out.
I usually just take the service fee and laugh as the wife gets upset at the husband for not knowing reading the instructions that came with the disposal.

I owned a Bosch for 7 years. BIGGEST disappointment in the house. BAR NONE.

Wht is this "reading the instructions" mumbo jumbo you're talking about? We dont read instructions, we diagnose the problem after the installation.
