I will be getting a new car first half of next year for work. I haven't bought a new car in more than 15 years. I inherited my current car from my predecessor, so I didn't get to pick one out.

I want a third row so if I get the BMW X5 it would be with the optional 3rd row. Anything I should be aware of with any of these? Any clear option to throw out?

I'll hang up and listen.

Mercedes would be better than any of those something

ETA: GLE coupe or standard GLE would be better than the Q7 or XC90

Bought my wife a used x5 a while back.....I don't like the idea of the turbo/super charged 4 cyl engine in the volvo..... we love the x5.....Audis are nice as long as you're getting a 3.0T supercharged

I have a Mercedes E class now and really don't like it. I don't like the interior, interface, etc. I actually prefer to drive my wife's VW Touran to my wagon.

Fair since you have experience with them.

I’ve heard good things about the XC90 from people that have owned them.

Wife has a 17 x5 but no third row. Middle optioned. Beware, depreciation is ridiculous. May come out better on a lease on a BMW as they subsidize their leases sometimes. We had a 14 Q7 TDI before and it was great but my wife hated the dealer. I wanted another one. X5 has been excellent but only has 11k at this point. Sticker was 72, paid 67 back in January. Worth like 45 on trade when I checked it for shites and giggles a month or so ago.

I looked at all these vehicles for the wife last year. Q7 was the standout to me. XC90 was new and even the sales person told us we should wait a year and let them work out some issues. X5 was really unimpressive inside. BWM suv's I find are not are well equipt as their cars.

Personally I would not suggest 3rd rows for any of these. Way too small. If 3rd row is a must stick to yukon or yukon xl

Maybe it was just the wagon that I didn't like. One of my employees has a new GLE - maybe I'll check it out and see if it is much different (but I doubt it).

Also - Yukon is not an option. I live in Germany, and there are no parking spots (and some roads) that can fit a full sized SUV.
I also don't care about resale since it is a company car.

Why so many car threads? Is the Transportation Board down?

I hope you don't expect to get 15 years out of any of those.

Have heard bad things about initial reliability on the XC90.

The Audi will probably be fine for 100k

Don't know about BMWs,

I keep cars for >200k miles so went with the GX460. Doesn't have the technology of the others but more reliable.

I know one person that likes her X5, literally everyone else I know who has an X5 or XC90 said they were nightmares. admittedly not a lot of people in the grand scheme, but still. Know someone with the XC90 who I think tried to see what they could do about it being under the lemon law.

Never driven the Q7 to say it's great or anything. Just heard a lot of bad things about the other two. Also, XC90 only has 3rd row in the higher priced package too.

I’m sure I will get roasted but we ended up getting my wife a Toyota Highlander after driving pretty much every mid-sized SUV available. The ride quality is amazing, great features, and the reviews are top. We got almost every option available and still came in several thousand less than any of the other vehicles listed in this thread.

I enjoyed my Euro cars right up until the cost of maintenance (especially the german ones).

I've switched to Asians and am very happy with that decision.

(Toyota Landcruiser is an awesome vehicle)
