Yes. I worked minimum wage jobs as a teenager and then took out a college loan and earned a degree in a STEM field. Then I paid back my loan and lived a decent life.

Wages arent the problem. Monetary policy which makes it impossible to live on min wage is the problem.
Agreed. The destruction of the value of the dollar is the issue, but what would be required to reverse it is cuts to Medicare and Social Security and other government spending or higher taxes.

Why is it that when min wage was within living costs back in the old days
Great Society
The Nixon Shock 1971
The Great Inflation of 1965-1982
Government meddling in the economy has devalued the dollar to the point its worthless.

If you are making minimum wage as an adult you should be happy someone was willing to give you a job. I made more than minimum wage after 6 months in high school.

The only "adults" working in fast food should be management trainees, retirees, and those looking for part time or extra income. No one should be working long-term in fast food as their primary source of income.
I’d be willing to wager that a portion of these adults are felons that can’t get hired anywhere else due to a background check.

It may be surprising to you but I have a masters in Econ and stats.
We have a SC Justice that doesn't know what a woman is and is afraid that the 1st Amendment gives to many rights to The People over the govt, so tossing this out doesn't impress anyone.
We aren't your mom's friends she's trying to impress.

My grandkids in HS make more than min wage.
People used to retrain or move if no jobs were available. Now, they wait on government to give them a raise.

Minimum wage should be banned. Let the market decide. And if too low workers won’t work there. But businesses and workers decide via free market whats fair.
Meanwhile, we continue the march to communism

That's what I don't understand. Since when was minimum wage ever intended to fully support someone, let alone an entire family? And since when was it assumed that people would work for minimum wage their entire careers? Who among us is still making the same wage they were paid when they first entered the workforce?

Exactly. I bagged groceries and stocked shelves at Winn Dixie in high school. I showed up on time. tried to do a decent job and got a raise after 6 months.
I left that job after a year for an unrelated job in high school and I was making like $7-8/hr when minimum wage was $4.25 or so.

The truth is, most adult min wage workers are people who work a few weeks at a time, then go on benders.

When, the 1960s?
You claim you have a degree in econ, yet you cant understand its not the wages, its the inflation?
Its government spending and monetary policy, period. If you have no skill, you will never get ahead.
Full employment 30 years ago was 5%, now its 3%. Theyre pushing money into the system and making low level jobs worthless.

Not for long. Those businesses will suffer and those jobs will evaporate.
