Off the shelf drones that anybody can buy can fly autonomously to a programed destination and land, the less expensive ones can carry a 4.5LB payload, that is a lot of high explosive. Could be programed to fly to any number of high value targets like power substations, pipeline hubs, aircraft on the tarmac, land and detonate. This is going to be a problem in the very near future.

Seriously there's no way the military hasn't thought about this possibility. It seems like the only plausible defense would be counter drones that could take those out, but does that mean that we have millions of drones patrolling Americam cities at all times? What happens to privacy in that situation? Not to mention the sheer energy consumption that would require as well as the possibility that those drones could then be hacked. There are so many terrifying futures made possible by where this tech is now
