Can I beat $23K, yes.

Can I beat John Goodman, no.

Like Hokie Gajan said about his running career,

"When the team needed one yard, I'd get two.
When the team needed three yards, I'd get two."

Yes. Hopefully you are fairly young. Depending on how old you are, you really need to start saving for retirement.

Yikes. I just wrote a check for more than that to cover part of the materials needed to renovate the kitchen and bathroom in our 2 br co-op unit.

$600 for the pilot and 1-3 medical personnel?

When I made my guess I thought it was for a short ride on a helicopter. It turns out it was a long ride on a Lear jet.

Since you were the first one to call me out, how much is this plane ride worth? What they are asking for it seems pretty outrageous.

Educate me on the price of the trip.

Perhaps you overpaid? Just because someone charges you that does not mean that it is worth it. It just means that you are willing to pay it.

Well that is incorrect. It means its worth it to the buyer.
If you're selling your house at $300k and the highest bid to buy is $260k, its not worth $300k.

So, then you coudnt sell your house for full price too? Too bad dude.

That how I made my $23k fortune. Buying smart. We'll get a beer (Dutch treat) and I'll show you how it's done my man!

To rent a light twin with me as the pilot is $400 an hour. It burns about $200 an hour in gas. This isn't a Lear.

OK. So let's say a Lear needs two pilots and they are $800 an hour each. Let's say it was a 5 hour flight. That is 10 hours with return trip for $16,000.

Add medical personnel. $200 an hour with 2 for the ten hour round trip is $4,000.

Fuel for the plane. What would it be? Say $1000 per hour for ten hours?

This brings us to $30,000. How in the blue hell did it get quadrupled for Roger?

My original post about it used numbers that I just pulled out of the air because the actual figures are unimportant when making the point that Roger is getting screwed. I had a few people that missed the point and one even cursed me.

Whatever the actual figures are, the charge being leveled at him is BS.
