Didn’t say that it was going to decrease my property value.

The OT is trashy so they will take the side of your neighbor.

It would annoy me too, I say roundup it.

Maybe so. Between work and school, other than the gym, I find it therapeutic putting that much attention into my yard work.

I fully expected to be downvoted to all hell.

I grew up in the being to do whatever in my yard. Now that I live in a HOA(it’ll only be for a few years until the kids are gone) I reinvested that extra time into keeping the yard perfect

Is this a wood fence or chain link? Could you just trim what is coming through?

or spray round up through the fence and be done with it for a couple months.

Or, you execute this dick move, kill a 2 ft wide swath of grass on your neighbor’s side of the fence and make enemies with the renter and the landlord

It’s a wood fence and I trim what’s coming through. But damn, yesterday I was trimming a foot off the ground

What kind of landlord doesn’t provide lawn service and expects the renter to do that work?

I get it. My neighbor’s junipers poke through our fence all the time. And the neighbors behind me have some kind of creeping vine that goes over the top of my fence.

I just trim them myself and move on with my life. In your case, there isn’t really a practical solution aside from going in his yard and weed eating or getting the HOA involved. Just doesn’t seem like it’s worth the drama.

Hey, at least he has a healthy turf…could be the opposite and have dirt eroding away and washing into your yard.

Last house I rented was well over a decade ago, but I don’t recall anyone providing lawncare for single family rentals. Condos/townhomes? Sure, but I’m pretty sure the tenant is usually expected to do this in a standalone home.

I don't string trim after the first cut. I use rm43 on all the edging. But I don't live in a HOA because people like you make life miserable.

Renters moved into the house next door this past winter. They haven’t mowed their grass yet this year.

Had HOA send them multiple letters, but the HOA said it’s not worth the funds to go any further.
The HOA can fine the homeowner for the renter's violation. Levy a fine (including that it continues to accrue for ongoing violation), then record a notice of lien on the property and send a copy to the homeowner. Would cost maybe $200 all in for your HOA board attorney to do, and very likely to compel a response from the homeowner.

By the time that unmown yard becomes "worth the funds" to your HOA, it's gonna cost a lot more to deal with. Not to mention it's arguably a breach of fiduciary duty not to do anything more about it.

My mower cuts each section of my yard 3X a week, I really don't care about weed eating every week, and I do it even less often in the back yard.

And guess what? After the grass dies, weeds pop up! Law of unintended consequences!

How do I know? Because the city sprays roundup at a lift station, and it’s killed my grass at the property line.

We had a neighbor (backyard) that would bitch at my dad for not weedeating the back fence line. My dad was to busy with work and he also just hated cutting grass. The neighbor who was retired would spend from the crack of dawn tending to the backyard. My dad got enough of it and told the guy that he would take care of it.....so he got some of the roundup that they used to spray in the canals and sprayed about 4 feet on that guys side killing all his grass for a while. Once his grass grew back the neighbor asked if he could come over and weedeat our side. Dad told him to suck a dick so the guy started to put his weedeater over the fence to weedeat. My dad then installed a 6 foot fence so he couldn't reach over but left it high enough that weeds would go through to his side.
