I can't think of a worse decision for a man than to live with a woman he is not married to

I have committed to giving the commute a chance for a year minimum. She can do here job in either location.

Locations are specifically Louisville or Miami.

We are married with kids.

Being that you are married and have kids, this obviously needs to be a family decision. The ages of your children would also make a big difference. If they are young, then it would be alot easier for them to settle in to a new school and make friends.

Im not going go ask what she currently makes but with a salary increase of that magnitude would she still need to work? Youll also need to factor the cost of living where you would possibly be moving to what you are spending now. Also, how long woukd the commute be if you didnt move? I commute 55 mins each way and it sucks. Thought it wasnt so bad at first but it got old quick.

If the big plus to moving to either city is that youd be home more often, is that a bad thing to her? I took a job promotion for almost double what I was making and to be honest Id give it all back since I now leave extremely early and come home really late every night.

Your quality of life is worth a ton when it comes to these decisions. Gotta remember that your quality of life has alot to do with your families quality of life as well. If you are always gone or always tired, it wears on everyone.

Don't let your friends say you have no taste, go ahead and marry anyway. Her face is ugly and her eyes don't match, take it from me she's a better catch.

If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. So from my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you.

My family moved around several times when I was young. It doesn't affect kids that much. We lived in Mobile, Augusta, Birmingham, Meridian, and finally settled in Dothan. All before I turned 10 years old. Each time it was for more money/security for the family. I think the only one my mom wasn't fully on board with was from Meridian to Dothan. Meridian was 30 minutes from both of their parents and Dothan was 4 hours away. My dad was finally able to join a partnership there and eventually transitioned that into opening his own clinic. And then transitioned that into a strictly outpatient clinic separate from any hospital. He's been his own boss for over 20 years now and works 3.5 days a week. Sometimes getting away from close family and exploring new opportunities is what it takes to make that next leap in your career. Not an easy decision but I hope you make the right one and it is the best all around for you and the family.

I've entertained jobs only a couple hours from Birmingham and you would have thought we would be moving to Idaho judging the responses from my friends and family. Thankfully we have been able to stay out but part of me always wonders about what if.

Just say "Hitch up the horses and pack the wagon, cause we headin' west, baby!" If she doesn't like it, too bad.

Dude is making an extra $100k per year whether he moves or not. And his only issue is the extra travel time that will keep him away from his family a little more.

To uproot the family for that shite is selfish beyond belief and he will certainly be dealing with a pissy wife for at least a year if not more. Depending on the age of his kids, they may be pissy for a year too, but will get over it faster than her.

Add plenty of family visits on your days off staying in your home for days at a time.

Do the extra travel and be alot happier.

Want to negotiate? Tell her the move will be 2 years max then move back.(assuming your kids are younger than 10, if not, there is no negotiation and deal with your traveling)
