Can't remember who told me this story. I want to say a friend told me it about a family friend of his

There was a teenage girl at home alone. She could hear someone moving downstairs and freaked out knowing that she was the only one there so she called the cops. They told her to take the phone with her and go hide in the closet by the stairs, just in case whoever was in the house went upstairs. After a few minutes she started walking downstairs but didn't hear anything. She walked around downstairs and didn't see anyone, so she convinced herself that no one was there and she was just hearing things.

A few minutes later the police knocked on the door and she tried to tell them it was nothing. They insisted to come in and search the house. In the closet that she was supposed to hide in they found a man with a knife. The police could hear someone else on the other line of the phone. He could hear where she was supposed to hide and went there to wait for her.

I've always had very vivid dreams an in college I began having lucid dreams. I had fun at first being conscious in my dreams running around doing whatever I pleased.

I find myself driving shitfaced one night in what I thought was a Lucid dream. I'm heading on i10 west over the Mississippi. My friends are screaming at me to pull over and stop. I turn around and say "watch this"; then proceed to slam into the guardrail. That moment I look back and my friend Tyler says "you fricking killed us". I laugh as we plunge in the water. I try to wake up, can't. I see the glass break around me, I feel water on my face, I start screaming.

I woke up screaming with my face in a puddle of drool. Didn't get any sleep for the rest of that night...

My roommate and I woke up to this loud sound that was like whom whom whom. The air pressure was all over the place. Our room would light up synchronized with the whom sound. We opened the curtains and saw the sky go orange and red, then back to the night sky. It was really bright and the color lit up the entire sky. We were scared stiff. I honestly thought it was the end of the world.
I looked for any reports in the paper and called the news to see if anything had been reported but nothing came from it.

Second one is a friend's story.
They were home sick when their family went to Mass. He woke up on his couch to two guys giggling the back door and one peering through the glass window. The guy looking the window sees him, looks directly into his eyes, and tells the other two someone is inside, but it's just one kid. They all go to the window, look at him, talk awhile then leave. One of the guys shouts to him that it must be his lucky day

Michael Savage told a great one on his radio show several years ago. I can't confirm that it's true and I can't remember every detail, but I can try.

Apparently, when he was growing up in New York, chests and packages left in the subway were free game. Finders, keepers, as it were. A nun left a chest there in the station, and they snatched it up. They opened it and there were the usual things; habits, rosaries, crucifixes and assorted personal items. At the bottom was a fetus.

Whenever I was a kid, there was an area where my friends and I used to ride our bikes, known as "witch mountain". A lot of people went there to ride dirt bikes and atvs, so it was a pretty popular place, for a small town. The area was pretty big, and one of the entrances was located by an apartment complex, where my friend used to live. There was an urban legend around town, that a girl was hung back in the woods, over a pond, by what was said to be a witch. One day, my friend and I were ridding our bikes through the trails, and decided to go by the pond, where the girl was allegedly hung. We didn't see anything, but it was still kinda creepy. As we were heading back, I began to notice we were taking a different path. A few minutes later, my friend stopped and said "this is where it happened". I thought he was just fricking with me, and was going to tell me that he saw a witch, but he didn't. Apparently, the summer that he lived in the apartment complex, he and some friends decided to camp out, in the location we were currently in. He told me during the night there was a huge storm, and it rained all through the night. When they got up the next morning, they headed back to their apartment, and came across a man walking through the woods. They stopped and talked to him for just a few seconds, and were kinda creeped out, so they left. He remembered what the guy looked like in detail, and said he looked like danny DeVito, and was wearing a suit. The thing is, the man was completely clean, from head to toe. He had no mud on him, yet they were all covered in mud. He said when they left the man, they never looked back, and hauled arse home.

The other creepy thing about that place is, it used to be owned by an old couple, and both were buried on the property. The two things that i will always remember about that place, is the story he told me, and seeing the graves of the old couple. I still remember to this day, the marking on the old mans grave, "gone, but not forgotten".

i'm sure spelling and such sucks, so I apologies, I haven't had my coffee yet

I was the passenger in my college roommate's car, on the way home from a spring break trip. It was late and we were driving on a desolate road back home. It was a slow drizzle of rain, the steam of the hot pavement that reduced the visibility even further on this moonless night.

After a couple of hours of driving, we pull into a small town that seemed fairly abandoned. There was one restaurant open, Arby's, so we hit the drive thru. In typical small-town fashion, our food takes forever. They finally hand our bags of food and drinks in and we're on our way again. We slip out of the town and back into the rural darkness as I'm digging thru the bags of food. I open my roast beef to put on some Arby's sauce and as I am finishing a passing car light illuminates the interior of our car just enough for me to see it. I put mother-fricking Horsey Sauce on my roast beef instead!!!! I nearly ate it too. Still makes me shiver.

I read that Reddit thread.

Scared me so much that I actually slept with all of the lights on in my house, checked every room, looked under every bed and in every closet and in every bathroom, checked every window and closed all of the blinds, barricaded myself in my room, and slept holding a bat because I don't have a gun.

I'm still a little scared, too. Damn you, Reddit.

Play this video of Charles Cargrove in the 2nd tower on 9/11 and keep your eyes closed. Then actually watch it the next time.

I think that it's rather obvious that that is what the author was going for. Here is a more detailed version of the story, it picks up from the cliffhanger at page 15 The Fear of Darkness

Man, reading the rest of that is cool, but a little disappointing. That's why even though the cave story ending kinda sucked, it leaves everything up to your imagination. Reading that story and how it ended takes away from its awesomeness IMO. A soul-eating creature that gets owned by the ghost of an old man uttering shaman-like spells? Meh.

about 10-12 years ago, i lived in an apartment in NO on st charles ave. my room mate was a dancer at rick's and i worked a desk job. she would come home around the time i was waking up, so we would usually hang out for a bit before i went to work.
one day, she was telling me how she saw this random guy 3 times one night: once on bourbon st, once when she was dropping off one of her coworkers way uptown, and once when she got back to our block. she said he was just standing there. i just figured she was drunk, or similar looking dudes, and didn't think much of it.
fast forward a few weeks, I'm in bed, kind of stirring, and i hear her come in. she starts her usual singing/yelling for me to get up, that i'll be late for work as she walks down the hall towards my room when she just screaming. i get up startled, and she tells me that the same guy was at the window. i grab a bat and some mace and head outside like 10 seconds later. no one there. i start to think she is drinking too much, and then i see a gold necklace hanging from the security bars.
