Looking for a new pair of dress shoes. Any suggestions similar to Allen Edmonds? Looking for a nice pair with leather soles and welted construction.

Are you too good for Johnston & Murphy?

I pretty much just buy Ecco now as most other formal/semi-formal brands hurt my feet.

Made the switch from Allen Edmonds to Alden. I needed a new pair of brown shoes, and the Peru made Allen Edmonds were just crap.

AE is still better than Johnston and Murphy or Cole Hahn, but not on the same level as Alden anymore.

Check out Samuel Hubbard online. Very comfortable, lots of style. Alot like Ecco with regard to comfort.

How much you want to spend? Grenson makes a great shoe, but you’re gonna pay.

I got these about a year ago with a gift card

J. Crew is underrated for a less expensive brand.

Try the George brand from Wal-Mart. Blows Alden out of the water.

If you’re willing to spend $500, Alden is the shoe for you. Wearing a pair of boots right now that I have been wearing for 7 years and had resoled once. Consistently wear 4 pair of Alden’s and have 4 others. Make the investment.
