OK, fanboys - let's hear it. I'm looking at both the Tacoma and Frontier. Have had my eye on the Toyota for a while now, but the a Frontier caught my eye recently and the Nissan can be had for a little less money.

I've owned a Frontier several years ago, and it was a solid truck. Really light on the options, nothing one could remotely consider anything but utilitarian. I'm looking for opinions...fire away!

ETA: I see a lot of 4 cyl turbos...is a 6 cyl a special order? I'm not crazy about 4 cyl much less with a turbo...

Toyota > every other car manufacturer

ETA: I have a '23 4Runner (first new car ever) and already looking to trade in for the new Lexus GX

I have owned both. It’s like an iPhone vs. an Android device. Toyota is better in every way.

Love my 3rd gen Tacoma Off Road, don't know enough about the 4th gen to recommend it. Hated the frontiers when I drove them though.

FWIW, my very good and experienced mechanic says Toyota, and avoid Nissan. You may have had a good experience with your prior Nissan, nevertheless. I've had great experiences with Toyotas.

I drive a Tacoma and when this one dies in about 200,000 more miles, I'll buy another one. I've got an older 3rd Gen so no apple car play or anything but it's fine with me.

As have I and I completely disagree.

The Toyota felt cheaper interior, rougher riding, and under powered compared to the frontier.

This reads like an Android fanboy.

People trashing the Nissan here but the Frontier is one of the most dependable longest running vehicles ever created. The Toyota is also so I say a tossup between the two.

I've had both but they were older. I liked both. The new tacos only offer an i4 where as the frontier does have a v6. Couldn't beat that 2nd gen taco with the 4.0 v6, but the new one is a totally different game.

I had a frontier last 20 years with 256k when I sold it.only thing I didn't like was I couldn't change the plugs without removing the plenum. I could change the transmission fluid with ease tho.

And when you're ready to trade-in or sell it, the Nissan will be worth a lot less money than the Tacoma. There's a reason Toyotas hold their value so well

You'll get a little more truck with the Nissan, but you will get a longer lasting and easily maintained truck with the Toyota. I drive a 2013 Tacoma.

I've owned Toyotas and love them.

However, I recently bought a '24 Nissan Frontier and couldn't be happier especially given the price. I like the fact that it's a little simpler and basic on the interior but still has all the bells and whistles of the new trucks. Also, it's the last of the mid-size trucks to have a V6. Some will say that doesn't really mean much given the output of the turbo 4 cyls, but I like the fact that there's no turbo's to crap out. Again, I like simple.

I've had it since April and it's been great on gas and has a pretty good ride albeit a little stiff. My only real complaint is that the steering is a little "heavy" and it doesn't have the best turning radius for a mid-size truck.

Not trying to convince you either way. Just offering my experience after 6 mos. in the Frontier.

I honestly don't think you could go wrong either way.

I just edited my OP to ask, are the new Tacomas really only available in 4 cyl turbo? Ugh...

I bought a 2015 Frontier with low mileage for pretty cheap last year. The guy wanted to get rid of it because the paint was peeling all over. Found a guy off Facebook who sanded the entire truck down, primed and repainted it for $1600. It's been an amazing vehicle so far. That being said, if you get a Frontier, make sure it's NOT white. There's been issues with other colors peeling as well, but it happens to at least 90% of the white ones.

Odd...my very good and experienced mechanic says they're both what and what but gives the edge to the Nissan V6 not relying on turbo.

Again, i've owned both. Don't really care what anyone drives. Just giving my 2 cents.
