Have any of you MS baws ever tried to get paint in MSU Maroon? My mom is a wonderful old lady but didn't have any better sense than to attend MSU.

I am building something for her and the Sherwin-Williams store couldn't match the color from the PMS code and didn't have the paint code.

I'm looking in the Jackson area. If not an exact match, is there a standard manufacturer color that is a close match. I'm colorblind and can't be trusted to make that call.

ETA: Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

A PDF with State's official colors

Might have to have it custom made, but this is all you'd need to get that accomplished:

HTML/HEX #5D1725
RGB: 93 23 37
CMYK 19 82 44 54
PMS 505

Try a different store, they should be able to match a pantone.

Not every paint manufacturer uses the same base colors for mixing. This is why some brands can match some colors exactly but can't match others (especially in different light). A Benjamin Moore rep told me this few years back.

Yes, I came armed with all these codes, but the local Sherwin-Williams can't convert it to their paint code.

Get something with the MSU color on it and have them scan it. Duh.

I was in Home Depot or Lowes awhile back and they had a LSU purple and gold that supposedly matched. The dude behind the counter said a lot of kids parents bought it to paint their boys room with it. Probably a lot of it sold in 2019.

Honestly, if MSU stuff is like TAMU stuff, even the color on licensed gear varies.

Oh well, I will give Home Depot a shot and if not, will just get as close as I can. I'm just being overly OCD. My mom is 79, I doubt she will be too worried about the color matching what their website says.

Friends don't let friends buy paint from Home Depot. Try Benjamin-Moore. They have high quality products with a semi-competent staff at most stores.
